Flamebait And I'm sorry Paulo but everyone has to love the PS2 pad. It's the best for everything besides FPS. :dance
I cannot stand the PS2 Pad. The Analogue sticks are horrible and badly placed due to having been tacked on to the original console, The dual triggers are too hard and uncomfortable to use, and the entire design is far too cramped for my liking.... So no, everyone does not have to love the ps2 pad.
I hated PlayStation pads since day one. SFC and Saturn pads (not the first US and PAL chunky ones) are the best pads ever made for a console. Yakumo
Agree to both posts above, the PSX pads have always irritated my hands (especially the d-pad - simply not accurate enough, and far too abrassive). For sheer volume of games though you can't mess with the PS2, anyone who thinks it's just for Tony Hawks and Spiderman is deluding themselves. PS2's got the selection, Xbox has got online, Gamecube has class first/second party titles. We've been over this before. Plus I kinda like the VB
Mind sending a picture my way? I love the PS2 controller. It's the best of the nextgen systems for fighters, and I prefer it for all gametypes besides FPS games and some stuff like Hitman.
I like the VB and I have one. It's quirky and has neat games. I like many PS2 exclusives, but it's definitely disappointing compared to the bunch of great PSX games that were released. Still, I have neither Spiderman nor Tony Hawk. I have Viewtiful Joe, Gradius V, R-Type Final, Arc the Lad, Ace Combat 4, ZOE2, and, most importantly, Breath of Fire V. This last game alone is worth the price of the console. I dislike the XBox. A lot. But for emulators, it's a great machine. I'm just not interested in online games or PC Ports. Still, many of my friends have them, and really, they're not that bad once modded. I'd get one if I had cash. The gamecube is a great little party console, that also has many neat one player games, but I already have a dreamcast. I don't have Tony Hawk or Spiderman for the dreamcast, either. I really don't mind any gaming pad. I like the older PSX pad, never played with the japanese Saturn pad, and haven't had problems playing the Dreamcast or N64 pads either. Still getting used to that gamecube pad, though. Probably because I don't have one, but, really it's confusing with all the weird button placement and varying sizes.
I find the whole "This game warrant the purchase of this system alone!" thing to be off. The only way I could see someone buying a console for one game would be RE4. That's because it's A. Such a great game and B. the GC is cheap.
You think that's bad? Tried playing with a NES controller recently? The pointy edges dig into your hand! For me, most d-pads tend to get irritating and painful after a while - especially the NES, original GBA, DC and the PS ones. I found Sega's big circular d-pads (like on the MD and Saturn) much more comfortable - and just better IMO. I hate the DC controller. I find the analogue stick just too far away - it takes my thumb a few days to get used to it if I haven't played the DC in a while. Until then it just HURTS.
Wow guys, wow. The DC is the best controller evar! I was playing SF2 on my genesis 3 using this super pad controller and after 2 fights my thumb was uber sore. I can't believe you said the DC controller is uncomfortable.
Call me crazy, but I find that the DC controller is rather uncomfortable. Particularly for fighting games. The D-pad is raised too high with some painfully sharp edges. Also, the hand grips molded into the casing are too short/stubby.
I couldn't play SF3 any other way. The only time I use the stick is to move in a semi circle for my specials. Best damn fighting controller EVAR!
the pad i like the best is the 6-button genesis controller, damn i like that one! it's just so confortable! the gamecube one is the most confortable pad of this gen, it just fit so well in your hands, bad things about this controller is the Z button and the damn little cross, i can't stand it! like the DC one too, but i really had to getting use to it, it felt so strange the first times i tried it.
I don't know. That DC pad is one painful controller for me to use for 2D or fighting games. However, the Agetec stick is by far the best controller option on the DC for the games that support it. Actually, I'll go so far as to call the Agetec Stick the BEST arcade style joystick released for home use as it mimics the look/feel of an Japanese arcade cabinet the best.
Yeah well that's great for people who like sticks, but I'm not really fond of them. I might pick up one for the DC eventually. I have a bigass Blaze one you can see in my collection pictures and I think I've used it maybe twice? Good thing it was cheap. It's been so long since I've played in an Arcade I have to say I honestly can't remember if I like arcade sticks. RIght now my mind is telling me no though.
I like the PSX pads, other than the D-pad, which is pure shit. The most comfortable controller in the current generation of systems is the Xbox's to me (the Japanese/S controller, not the "Duke"). The Dreamcast controller is nice, but the D-pad gets on my nerves and the analog stick feels cheap. The Gamecube controller is okay, but still my least favorite. All-in-all, though, my Saturn pad is my favorite. It's lightweight and comfortable to hold.
Hah, you're right. I just responded to the posts without looking at the title. This one's kinda gone off track .
