I find the original GBA to be the most ergonomic with a screen too horrible to be spoken of. The solution then, seems clear:

Inactive Photobucket: the solution to all life's problems.

Mott, you'd honestly have to see the second model SP before you can make a judgement. I'd never be able to go back to an original SP now.

4 hours? I remember getting about 8-10 hours out of mine in 1995. Maybe batteries aren't what they used to be :110:

WOW. I was always looking for an original-looking Pocket. is this official??

DKC1 is a great game. provided they both function as you expect I't day 15 USD isn't something you'll miss. We ve all payed more for crappy games and here you re getting hardware plus a good game!

Don't forget to get the Super Mario Land series, especially 3: Warioland.

I got similar battery life with my Gameboy Pocket. Anywhere from 8 to 10 hours sounds about right. Problem is the screen while certainly clearer, still has motion blur that is evident in fast paced games like Operation C (the first Contra on GB). I had the limited edition Ice Blue that came with Zelda Link's Awakening.

    Yes it is.

Pfft using LSDJ on a color is unethical. :p

Is there really a difference in sound quality between models?

    yes.

Prehistorik Man, by Titus, won't run properly (soundwise) on a GBC, whereas it plays fine on a GB/P and GBA series.

Aside from different chips, I believe later models of the Gameboy (post-brick) have a low-pass filter on the headphone socket.

How does the low pass filter affect the sound?

Less bass/more tinny. I'm not sure on the technical details, I'm sure they're out there though.

Get the back-lit one. After being used to lit screens, anything else is just horrible.

Did they ever make a back-lit GBC?

I always thought the original SP, which is the only model I've got, had an annoying blue tint to the light. Of course, it was made before backlit screens were battery-efficient (think Game Gear levels of power-guzzling). Still, it was far superior to the horrible dark screen of the original GBA. Love the design as well.

Ah, Afterburner, I have two of those, my GBA and GBx player of choice. no SP here. (And SP brighter is like a DSphat)

How are you going to fix screen lines missing? Isn't that a sign of a damaged LCD?
