Question for anybody on this form that has any knowledge of burning NR Discs for the GameCube NR Reader. How do you burn the GCM files to the Blank NR Discs? Every time I try and burn and image I just get an error message. Do I need to convert the file into another format so the software will burn to the disc? Please reply anybody Thanks again Nintendo
So... I'm assuming that you are using either an official RVT or NR writer? As well as assuming that you are using NR discs and not blank DVDs. If that is the case, I do not know why it is not working. However, even if you have an SW-9585-C or SW-9501 from eBay, it still needs flashed with the proper firmware before it will work. The SW-9501 (NR writer) software has been released, but the SW-9585-C (RVT writer) has not.
NR WRITER IS PANASONIC SW9501 FROM EBAY. Software firmware is 2.19 patch. SCSI card is the Adaptec SCSI Card. The card in my system isn't the ADAPTEC SCSI card 2940AU which Nintendo saids it's the right card for the job. My is an ADAPTEC but the model number is different. Here is the error message. The specified file is not a GAMECUBE MASTER FILE. But all my files are GCM Image right at 1.35GB in size or 1.4GB if you right click on the properties under windows and look at the image. What is the problem? NR WRITER is the real thing as is the NR DISCS. Or could this have something to do with it? If the size of the specified file is smaller than the media size, or if the MAGIC CODE? (see the "Master Data Format" document) is not in the prescribed file location, the following dialog will open. Press [Yes] to continue or [No] to return to the Selection Screen. Anybody please help
If you want to get it working the hard and long way; extract the contents and using the dolphin SDK's makeGCM program, make your own format file and create your own GCM.
Hi, when you say the source you mean what system am I playing the GCM images on? Or how did I create them? Please reply Thanks Nintendo
I think the firmware of the DVD drive does all the fixing necessary to burn NR discs. Try using IMGBurn to DUMP an NR disc using your drive. If it works, you should also be able to BURN a disc with IMGBurn.
GCOS Ripper is a better thing to send; you can boot it up and send a DOL over to it right away and then stream a game. Or in fact, if you look through the Dolphin SDK, and have a BBA, there's software there you can use to stream a game.
Also if I got my hands on the SN TDEV USB Adapter would that work with the NR READER? I know it works with NPDP Console & SN TDEV.
It'd boot as the TDEV has an NR Disc but I think it'd refuse to run as I'd imagine it checks for the additional debugging RAM that the TDEV has. Or even if it doesn't check, it'd crash the console when it tried to read or write to it, which it'd do as it's got inbuilt debugging.
This is how I see things: the NR Reader isn't really meant to be a debugger - it was mainly used by beta testers. The same probably goes for the NPDP (just faster gang flash than to write individual nr discs I suppose) but I suppose they could have done some debug on either - it's just not as practical as a GDEV/etc.
What he said. GDEV/DDH are your best bets for debugging (or perhaps a TDEV...I don't really know how those work...) Anyway, isn't there a way to debug with the USB Gecko?
