i was doing a little inspecting of my gamecube... thinking i might buy a xenogc or something... so i looked on the inside, and i saw this weird hack/solder job..... sorry about the second image... the image reached the file quota is it still possible to use a xenogc on this if the circuit is still there, and what does this circuit do? will my gamecube still work if this is removed?
Need to see where it leads on the other side of the PCB to be sure of its purpose. But to answer your question, xeno should be completely fine.
well i mean, its blocking the xenogc from laying correctly on it, and usual gamecube disc drives dont have this...
It seesm to be adding a little delay to the STBY line - none of the other drives I've seen had that cap, and they all seemed to work. I can't see any reason it would interfere with the operation of the Xeno GC, though - the only possible issue is that it might physically get in the way of positioning the board (although I think from memory that the top edge of the board is just below the via the end of the cap is soldered to, so it should fit).
You can either: Remove the cap and refit it in another position (while still connecting to the same trace) Fit the Xeno using wires Remove the cap completely and install the xeno and it will probably be OK.
http://imgur.com/XfjmR4J heres the other side, nothing really here.. i just fliped the board over hmm ok... im going to order a xenogc... is there any other modchip i should get if i just want an easy installation, and flash memory, possibly usb port?
I have also seen this in 2 NTSC Gamecubes so far. I didn't know what it was for either, I thought it was something I had accidentally done so I removed the bridge and it still worked. XenoGC worked fine once installed. Here is proof that it will still work.
Merged some double posts - try to remember to use the edit button on the last post if nobody has replied.
ViperGC Extreme (4 wires) and Qoob Pro (6 wires) are fancy versions with USB updating. I'm more familiar with Qoob. Force 480p option is useful. Like XenoGC they lack SD card support but try flashing a reader program to internal memory. As for import games, remember modchips are similar to Freeloader in how the console's region doesn't change. There's workarounds for effects of that.
where can i get the qoob pro? ive looked everywhere, and no luck... i installed mine, at forst no lights at all,,, then i resoldered everything red lights flashing, then once again a solid red light at that moment i realised it was broken after ive done it soo many times....
