I was browsing throun an online shop and noticed how many games there are these days based on movies: Spider-Man TMNT Transformers Shrek the Third Fantastic Four Surf's Up Superman Returns King Kong Pirates of the Caribbean Harry Potter Ratatouille Open Season Out of about 40 total titles listed, 12 of them were based off of movies. I usualy don't bother with these titles but it seems like a lot of dev time is spent on them. (May as well ask...any of them good?)
I really liked the first pirates of the caribean on the xbox, eventhough it was buggy as hell and kept crashing (I had the original), I would just play it all day, tho I was off work ill for a year so I had to occupy myself. It's prob one of the only recent movie spin offs that I liked. Althought I think Pre PS1 movie spin offs were a lot better, jurassic park on the megadrive for instance I used to like, tho I don't think there were so many then.
Jurassic Park on the SNES was awesome, but very difficult to beat in one go. My older brother and his friend spent a whole weekend playing it and mapping out everything, and I mean everything in great detail; even then I don't remember if we ever actually beat the game...Then my little brother lent the cart and the maps and info to a friend (it was his game) and the friend's grandpa threw the maps and such away...We were pretty bummed...
Chronicles of Riddick (PC/Xbox) is very impressive. Better than the movie (not too difficult) and a brilliant game in its own right.
riddick on the xbox was fantastic, am really looking forward to the remake on the 360 also agree on the orginal pirates game, was addicted to it when it first came out, only downside is the pal version doesnt work on my hdtv as 480p is all screwy on it (off topic, but if anyone has the american version pm me as if i have the american default.xbe file it should work ok) as for the current games, im playing the new pirates on both the wii and 360 (wii one is much more fun though) and shrek 3 isnt too bad also ones to avoid (imo) are superman and tmnt and spiderman 3 on the wii (as the controls are horrible!)
Dont forget Lion King. Still a cool game. I had the PC Version years ago but afair there were also console ports. I also liked Macross for Saturn a lot. With all the scenes from the movie and the longest shooter i've ever played. Recent Games = dont know about it
Die Hard Arcade Goldeneye Spiderman 2 The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers & Return of the King Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (DS ver.) Star Wars: EPisode I Racer Super Star Wars & Empire Strikes Back & Return of the Jedi All come to mind as far as "good" titles are concerned.
I just didn't realize that those types of games made up such a large percentage of the market, or at least they did with the selection at Walmart.com. Maybe it's because they good for families, or something...
It's because they're good for sales. Tie-in games, especially for kid's movies, routinely make the top of gaming charts.
Oh, I so loved this game. Not particularly hard but you could not save and there were no passwords either. I remember that it took me about 3hrs to beat it in one go. Only did that once.
And the award for the game based on a film that had the most potential but seriously failed goes to:.. Enter the matrix. Is path of neo any good?
I heard Path of Neo was decent, a lot better than Enter the Matrix. But that's not a hard thing to accomplish.
I rememeber playing The Matrix for about 20 minutes and wondering what they hell they were trying to do with that game...
When I played Enter the Matrix I got stuck in a door. Not like a doorway, the actual door itself. I couldn't move at all. So I says to mineself, "I'm done with this piece of crap." Haven't played it since.
Spiderman 2 and Riddick are the only ones in recent memory that were any good, but those were a grand old time
Path of Neo was a really good game, but it sort of gets repetitive more into it. Still fun though, nonetheless.
