Man, I have that same prob, but a little different. I always have terrible luck with stuff just plain not working, and it seems like everytime I got near the end of a game when I was younger, it would just stop working. This happened to me with nearly every multi disc PS game on PS1. Remember how those PSX lasers would just die? This happened to me early, so basically, I had played near the end of tons of RPG's back in the day, but never beaten any of them. It wasn't until a few years ago I did finally beat them. Xenogears - disc stopped working on the very last part of merkava. ff8- Disc 3 magically imploded on both copies, even though the discs are pristine. ff7 - Same. Lunar - Disc 2 would fuck up, and on a cutscene it froze, and a couple seconds later played me every FMV on the disc. A few other games used to do that to me as well. But yeah, I had to use a PS2 to beat those.
Once i finish a game it pretty much gets shelved, there isn't that many games i would play over and over again. Unless a game has a decent Time Attack mode (MarioKart64) or good multiplayer options (Goldeneye:love2 i don't see the point in playing through games again, you already know what to do and what happens in the end. I do try and complete every game i play though, no matter how crap they are.
I will admit that the controls are a bit stiff at times (especially after spending time w/ JSRF) but I went through the game somewhat easily when it came out, and only had minimal trouble with it. I'm definitely not a speed gamer (although at the time I was the type that bought a game, played it, cleared it, and stuck it on the shelf, never getting "good" at it). I'm sure I had to do the last few stages a few times, but don't know of any action game where I didn't. Maybe I enjoyed it too much to be bothered.
Yes, I know its sad, but I would have to say most of the games I own I've barely played. I mean, there are some exceptions, but pretty much, after I beat a game, I rarely, if ever, pick it up again. There are so many games that I have, that are probably pretty good (so I hear), but they don't even get played (or opened lol)...
That happens: for me sonic adventure was so cool I didnt even cared about the crappy camera everybody was talking about...
99% of my RPGs I think the only one I've replayed is FF7 and Arc the Lad 1. Replayed Arc the Lad 2 with super awesome ATL 1 characters a few years back, but stopped in the middle or so. GTA: SA - Boring game that sold on shock factor BS. Fun for 20 minutes MAYBE. A lot of the crappier FPSs I've played I've never touched again. Depends on the genre for me. I won't usually replay an RPG, except for a few that I really really like. If an FPS has crappy online and / or is mostly campaign, I won't play it again. I hear lots of Halo hate out there, but Project Snowblind online is full of kiddos that always go to agent class and won't join if you ban that class. Actually, almost my entire collection is split between RPG and FPS. I've got some adventure and hack n Slash though.
Definately agree with Pikmin. That game was so hard for me! I got around half of the Ship Parts then all my Pikmin kept drowning. It was extremely annoying. :crying: Both Golden Suns for the GBA. They were so great, but I would stop playing them for so long and forget what I was doing. FF8 got boring on me. Same with FF9. I put FFX-2 in for around 7 minutes (literally) and havent played since. Metroid Prime 2. It just wasnt fun.
Its a shame that having a way better level design than GTAVC the missions were so bad. I still "play" it sometimes, but not the missions: I like to fool around in the desert with the hovercraft, the hydra plane or make stunts with the quad:nod:
My thoughts too. Good to know I m not alone. The first Prime was amazing, and I was comming back for more, yet the second one I found pretty formulaic and "check-box list", lacking true soul - I ve got MP3 sitting by my desk, and I hope to start playing it as soon as I get some real free time from studying.
Wind Waker - I don't really mind the graphics but the sailing was so incredibly boring. Especially towards the end when you have to fish up all those triforce parts and treasures from all over the world map. I planned to start over again to get all those pictures for the figurine shop but whenever I think of that triforce fishing I just fall asleep:shrug: . The game was mostly really fun the first time though.
you think YOU had it hard? Poor japanese folks had to put up with extra triforce hunting ,that was cut off for the US and PAL ver. of the game
I think it was only like a one piece of triforce, which involved finding two Maps. It wasn't all that much in the grand scheme of things. I've played the JP version like 3 times now.
one game i swore id never go back to was boktai:the sun is in your hand it looked cool but was so annoying having to go outside. the first time I played Xenosaga i was bored but i went back now and its fun. then there was Sonic heroes which was a let down after adventure 1&2. Megaman X Command Mission was very dark and I didn't know where to go next so i gave up. Transformers i got like halfway through then stopped because getting those minicons was so hard. I probably will get rid of them eventually...though i might put boktai under a heat lamp till it melts
My problem ranges beyond never playing a game again... When I was working for a Gamestore I thouroughly abused my staff discount and bought lots and lots of games. So many, infact, last I checked I have about 160+ games I haven't even played yet! Problem is, I focus what gaming time I have on the titles I enjoy most...and by the time I complete one...some new game I want comes out and I get that. I think the worst is my PS2 back catalog. I have Disgaea 1+2, SotC and Odin Sphere, all un-touched!
I don't think I'd replay the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Playing through it again would be like....killing a dead person. Same for the Onimusha games, and lots of others.
That reminds me, I need to finish that game. GF got me it for christmas, and since I loved the first so much, I thought it would rock. It just got kind of dumb near the end, and repetitive, I don't even know what I'm suppose to do, but I'm near the end. I can't wait to play 3.
