Will Gameshark Lite work with PS1 backups on PS2? I unfortunately have an unmoddable 90001 PS2 Slim model so I can't install FMCB. I've been considering getting Gameshark Lite for PS1 backups and stuff but I don't know if it will work for my model. If it does, do I need to do the swap trick? Thanks!

You would have to do a swap trick but I'm not sure that it would work. I can't remember what happened when I tried it on my PS2 model 50001. I think when booting it was waiting for the drive/door status to open and then close making it unable to do a swap trick boot. You might need to hunt down that "Breaker Pro" disc instead. However if it's an option for you then you're better off using an original PS1 system. They are easier to boot CD-Rs on. With most models you could actually do the real swap trick on which would be enough for you to reprogram a GameShark cartridge with UniROM which can send the security unlock sequence to allow CD-R reading without swapping.

Or you could program or get programmed a PIC chip with 4-wire modchip code and install that. The few anti-mod games you might come across can usually be patched before burning to eliminate any issues.
