Yeah having an opinion and speaking out on something you feel is wrong is ranting. I think you need to go back to 4chan and your pedobear gif postings with that attitude.
I can't see a problem with anything they are doing from a business point of view but maybe it is ethically slightly wrong. A business HAS to make money to continue to trade so at any given opportunity they will try to sell/ sign you up to whatever offer or special deal they have running at that time. I don't feel that an employee telling you that something is 'going to sell-out unless you pre-order' is any different from a company advertising a particular sale and pointing out that it is while stocks last! Weak people are easily pursuaded and that's maybe where the ethics come into play. A bit like a door to door salesman hunting out older and more fragile people. Also, how can you complain about a points based saver system? If you shop there anyway then you are nothing out! If it's a case of being lured in by the FANTASTIC points saver system then again it's your own fault. T&C's are clearly shown on such documents and by now people should know that for every $/£ you spend you only get like 0.010 p/c back. I also think it's a little hypocritical that you bash the store/ franchise yet take your games there yourself to trade in. Why not sell the games by other means and go to the smaller retailer? This is the price you pay for convenience IMO!
This. I have been offered a job at Radio Shack (The Shack as they want to be known now) and they didn't pressure me during the interview and after talking to the manager about selling phones and I've never been pressured into buying anything I didn't come in there for already except for a few half-hearted attempts at AA batteries just so the clerk could say he tried if the manager asked. They mainly sell phones and other crap and make me wish I had been born a decade earlier just to say I had seen them at their prime. GameStop came to my city AFTER Hollywood Video closed up shop with their game store add-on. Only went in there once to scoff at the prices for used GBA games but I've never been pestered heavily in the county over where the GameStop is in a mall. Then again I only go in there to score the never ending supply of PS2 network adapters. I can't imagine why I'd want to buy from them when I have to pay sales tax and deal with their clerks. Plus they don't ever seem to be accepting used games, probably because everyone around here just pawns off their crappy sports games.
Exactly. On the rare occasion such stores have something I want it's almost always priced at twice as much as I'd be willing to pay and in fucked condition.
Amen to that. Thanks to the Ebay effect every mom and pop store I go to thinks that NES carts should be priced way too high. Especially the most common ones. Just my opinion but for rare instances I don't think any unboxed NES cart should cost more than $10.00.
for the record - most best buys do game trade ins now. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Video-G...in/pcmcat203500050000.c?id=pcmcat203500050000 and unlike Gamestop - best buy has an online calculator to help you figure out if it's worth you trading in. For the most part it's comparable in price to gamestop however BB definatly gives higher prices for new releases. Gamestop maxes out it's trade in credit at 20 dollars. Turning in a new release (like COD:Black Ops) net's you about 33 bucks at BB.
Not to rub it in but when growing up, my dad use to manage a Radio Shack when they where in their prime. God those where some good times. The staff was mostly college students who not only knew what they were selling, they also where avid users of the stuff. It's sad to see how far that company has fallen. :crying:
just take a q-tip and dip it in some alcohol and LIGHTLY rub at the marker issue solved little to no damage
I've found Amazon's Warehouse division to be a surprisingly deep well of good used games. Nearly everything has both the original package and the manual, and if it doesn't the description will say so pretty clearly. Most of the items in the Warehouse are Dreamcast-era and newer, but there are quite a few PSX and 16-bit games that pop up in there from time to time.
lol, who still shops at Gamestop? I buy all my games from amazon at discounted prices. Don't get suckered into pre-ordering, wait a month and the games are $20 less.
I was just at my favorite game store G2K games, local store, I think they have 3 stores total in my area, anyway, I was talking to them and I asked their honest opinions about the PS3 Move and the Xbox 360 Kinect. The told me to not get the PS3 Move till a game worth playing with it came out and the Xbox 360 Kinect had some good titles including a really well done boxing game but said if I wasn't completely sold on the idea of the Kinect, it would be better to wait till more games were developed and the price of the hardware comes down. I don't know many game stores that will be that honest with you!!! I appreciate the honesty I get from G2K Games. I went there to browse their cheap PSX/PS2 games, but didn't find anything worth getting. I think thats what I like the most about the local store. Also I like it that they not only guarantee to have a lower price on used games and systems than Gamestop, the also guarantee to have a better trade in value for your games as well.
That's exactly the reason. I was a manager of a Babbages Ect (Before they turned into Game Stop), and we had a quota for the store to get pre-orders, game requests and, sell ad ons. If we didn't they would either fire the manager or the person who isn't carrying their weight. Now that was 10 years ago, I've never been in a Game Stop to buy any thing. I went in to return a Game Boy DS (never opened) that I ordered on line and didn't feel like paying the shipping to send it back. I've never been to the store since then. Just the one time. I try to void going into retail stores unless I have theses days. I worked in retail for 20 years and I had enough. We have two super markets that do the points and discount when you use their card. I only go to one of them, but the one I go to uses cents (.10 every $50) of the price of gas. Which can come in handy theses days. =Hugh
What about stadium Events? You are on a video game forum for rare video games and development of video games. You also run around shouting memes. You are not at liberty to call anyone a nerd.
Two things, first someone would have to be stupid enough to trade in that game to only get .90 cents in credit for it and second Gamestop would probably just put a 4.99 sticker on it. Then some guy down on his luck would walk in, see it, buy it and sell it on ebay making enough money to either pay off his debit if he were smart, but more than likely go blow through it on a trip back to Gamestop to buy more overpriced used games and consoles . . . either way Gamestop wins . . .:lol::lol: -Disjaukifa
Gamestop is an evil empire, but their discount card is worth paying for if you buy a lot of used games in a year. I always more than pay mine back with the savings I get.
I had to do this yesterday and I forgot to post about it. I bought a Playstation 2 from G2K Games on Thursday night, got home after they closed for the evening, and it wouldn't play DVDs correctly and games would glitch. Turned out to be because SOMETIMES, not always, one of the springs that hold the disc on the spindle would come loose the disc would be held in place correctly. However sometimes it would. Well I took it back friday, with receipt and explained what was going on. The store hooked it up and then proceeded to play a game for 20 minutes until the problem showed itself. Once he saw it, he immediately apologized and exchanged the PS2 Slim for another and then apologized for selling me a bad unit. I sincerely doubt Gamestop would have done the same. They probably would have put a disc in played it for 30 seconds and told me it was playing fine now. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. -Disjaukifa
