I don't really care who makes it, so long as it's good and it stays true to the feeling of the original games. But I really doubt that's gonna happen - it'll probably be a really half-assed effort or it won't happen at all. The latter is probably more likely at this point. I was basically joking before.
Generally speaking, when someone different tries to make a new entry in an established franchise, they either take it in a different direction or try to mimic what the original creator was doing, which most of the time makes things in the game feel extremely forced. I don't really want either to happen with a possible Shenmue III. Personally, I don't even really want Shenmue III to come about. It would have been wonderful and brilliant back in say, a hypothetical 2003 or so as the swan song for a DC that Sega hadn't given up on. But today I just don't see a studio making a new Shenmue the way Shenmue games used to be, certainly not in a world with Oblivions and Fallout 3s and Heavy Rains, etc. Also there's the fact of Sega being a souless husk of its former glory that rapes its past franchises on the grave of Segata Sanshiro... that also poses a problem for me. I'd rather they just let their former talent go and give them their franchises back to make on their own (i.e. give Panzer Dragoon back to Yukio Futatsugi).
How could I forget it? Deus Ex Human Revolution! Thats the problem: if someone else makes it he's gonna put his own "style" into it, so it will differ from the original, probably a lot. The only way Shenmue3 could be exactly as intended is if fans make it.
I have so many games to finish that I'm kinda not looking forward to much at the moment. I m sure I'll be a 3DS fan from day one, provided there are good launch games. The PSP2 isn't a priority for me any time soon and although I now own an ipod touch 4th gen, I can't say I like gaming on it, it's shite despite the raw power it packs.
Looking forward to the 3DS more than i did with the original DS so hopefully i might be able to pick up one at release or if not within the first few months. Might even go for a Kinect depending on the games released and depending on if i will ever get a lot of use out of it in the long term over the initial wow period which if there is good games then i don't see that as a big problem. As for games i haven't a clue on what games are out supposed to be coming out in 2011 so right now there is none i want.
LittleBigPlanet 2 - but I'm not gonna get scammed as badly as I did with the first. I spent a small fortune on DLC as I gotta have the lot damned OCD! This time I'll wait for GotY edition and save a few £££. Nothing else has got me mentally erect but to be honest I haven't really kept my finger on the pulse either so who knows?
Gonna buy me a shiny new 360 and playing all the games I've been forced to pass on as I can't afford $60 a pop but I can $10-15. The 3DS looks interesting but it's too much money to drop on a portable.
I hate the idea of spending so much money on a handheld system, but I have to have Mega Man Legends 3 on launch day so I'm going to get a 3DS asap to be prepared..
2011 is looking like a good year. Twisted Metal PS3 The Last Guardian Team ICO Collection Catherine Ni no Kuni: The Another World El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron Asura’s Wrath Parasite Eve 3: The 3rd Birthday Solarobo Blade & Soul and 3DS, but mostly just to see the 3d effect sense I wont be buying one till the first revision is released. No way that's going to happen in 2011. Nintendo has stated that they wont even talk about it till Wii hits 45mil sales and 2011 they'll be focusing on 3DS anyway. Sony is just hitting their stride in 2011 with many platform exclusives, and probably PSP2 in time for the holidays. Microsoft Just spent half a billion $ on Kinnect promotion and will be focusing on that for the foreseeable future. 2012 we'll probably start hearing about the new consoles with 2013 being when they launch. Nintendo could jump the gun and release new hardware in 2012 but traditionally they've not been the first out the gate.
