Rushing technology + Marketing perhaps? I remember when friends said i was crazy for not spending money on a 3DTV. Months later their 3D Glasses were covered in dust. The point it's that it's too early for 4K TVs. Not only that, they are also pushing "curved" TVs. People look at those and think "wtf? i thought flat screens were the future". Insted the whole 4K marketing pratically killed OLED displays. http://www.techradar.com/news/telev...great-hope-for-tv-tech-is-fading-fast-1265506 Electronic companies should educate people as most haven't even got used to HDTV, Blu-rays and so on. I still see people with HDTVs watching blurry SD content, even when the same channel is available in HD for free over the air.
Just wanna point out that for retro gaming, having a good scaler in the TV can a very big plus. Some TVs are fine for HD/FullHD content but really suck when you give them 480i/480p/240p. I got an old plasma 720p screen that looks really great no matter what you throw at it, while I've seen since modern TVs destroy 480i content. Ofc that is only valid if you don't use an external scaler, but for the broke people it is to keep in mind.
I know somebody is still watching Blurry SD Content......... MY MOM wooooooooooooo Somebody will get that Reference I already made a topic about upscalers. I decided to get a DVDO upscaler since it's more practical than a Framemister. .
The display companies are going to force 4K very fast. There is only 1 large panel (over 46") samsung for 2015 that is NOT 4K. Panasonic is the same way, and Sharp is cranking out low priced 4K's like crazy. "There isn't a lot in 4K yet" Yeah, well same thing was with HD. HDTV's started in the early 2000's and blu-ray didn't come out until 2005. So take that into consideration. There was another thread and I gave an my opinion from an insiders perspective on the TV market. There is PLENTY of 4K content. Netflix, Amazon have 4K. Sony's online store has a TON (the MOST) amount of 4K. Do you realize how long things have been filmed in 4K? Sure things you can hold in your hand aren't, but the the streaming content is actually plenty. But Pansonic is launching Ultra Blu-Ray this year. Panasonic had the best upscalers but they aren't doing small screens. get a 43 or 48 X830C from Sony. It's a 2015 model, runs Android TV. You'll be happy. O=
