    Dear fellow gamers,

I have recently obtained a Gameboy Advance SP from a friend. He told me that at some point in the past it had experienced water damage, and will no longer charge. He also told me that the battery and system are otherwise okay, because he can take the battery from the unit and use another system to charge it. When the battery is swapped back into the non-charging system, it works fine (or so I've been told) I spent some time yesterday tearing it apart and looking for voltages, I am getting somewhere around a volt across the one of the LEDs not sure if its the charging light or power light but it does not illuminate. I also cannot get any reading across the two battery prongs. I'm chasing my tail here, any ideas? I haven't seen any signs of water damage on the board.

    Thanks,

    Noah

That one picture can't help anyone determine anything, you need to strip it to the bare PCB and then have a look around. Looking in the battery compartment isn't going to determine if there is damage or not.

Sorry, I forgot to add the other pictures I took : /
*Edit* I checked both the F1 and F2 Fuses just now, they both test out fine. The part EM8 also looks to have been stained by water damage, what is it exactly? Is it some sort of tiny bridge rectifier? *End Edit*

Last i knew, when a SP experiences charging issues its either the battery or the main board that is having issues.

If the battery is able to be charged in a different unit then its likely the board.
If you live in the US I think i've got a spare known working AGS-001 board I could probly send your way.

A Replacement board is en-route thanks to ToxicMedz. I'll be sure to do a follow up when it arrives.
