Yep thats it. I was just too brain dead to google it at work (not supost to be posting online anyways. :p).

Again I went with my gf (actualy she is the reason why we went there) and of couse she is 100% chinese and her mother toung is mandarin.

Anyways I think I might stick with a Vii & JXD 301. They should hopefuly be a little common to find (JXD is just a chinese made mp4 player that happens to be quite powerful). I was just currious if anybody here knew of something cool my gf might find in china that I should have her hunt down.

Hehe watch the Vii be highly tainted with led.

Vii want you to die!! :p

    ...

They're much more likely to turn up in Taiwan, where they were officially produced and sold. However, small numbers of A'can units did get exported to China, where they were unofficially PAL-modded and resold. The odds of finding one, however? Not good.

Hong Kong, if you want to buy NTSC/J games in English then it's the place to be, apart from that well it's not that great. There is Gamechoice but if you go to Japan then it seems a little pointless.

There's some good stuff in China. How do I know? I live here! At least where I live in Kunming we've got an entire street of gameshops that sell all kinds of stuff. the iQue is interesting but highly overrated. It's about 499RMB for the machine, and they're available in most department stores in the provincial capitals and big cities. But there's only like 10 games available for the machine. However it's a haven of MVS carts if you're interested in that sort of thing, but check to see if it's a boot or not first. Arcades all over the place full of King of Fighters and Metal Slug machines, although they're slowly disappearing due to the WoW epidemic that's plaguing the young kids here.

Yeah, I'm still currious to see an iQue in person. Do most stores sell it bundled with every game?

Personaly I would avoid MVS carts because most likely my gf will bring me home bootleg ones (thats too complicated of a thing to work out). :p

I'd say try to find some antiques, communism-era stuff or maybe tailor-made clothing. Games you can order online.

Still, I think places such as Golden Arcade have a great feeling about them. Those little shops, it's just different than gaming-shopping in Japan.

Ique's are nothing special. Due to the price, its very unlikely you will find all the games sold together with the Ique. The last store I visted, they had one Ique game, and that was it. The rest was all pirate stuff. I assume they keep at least one legit game for the police to check? :/

The PC KID III is almost as great as the console you are droolig over, except it doesn´t have any acces to a diskette drive (or a casette recorder tab) or a CD rom, but you can program via its onboard basic. And other stuff, and there is a printerport on the back. So the Dr. PC Jr is not really a "holy grail" of famiclones. But it is a lovely one none the less. And the best alternative to the Dr. PC Jr would probably be, the PC KID III. But hey, what do I know. Maybe some man will hack a famiclone, and make it even more awesome. Or Kevtris, finally gets off his arse. And finishes the FPGA console, and he hacks it in to being compatible with the NES and famicom and also makes it compatible with the Dr. PC Jr and so forth. And we all can have some fun with adding "addons" and what not to his FPGA console. And sorry for going off topic in this thread.

    Great news barc0de,

I went over my list last night with my gf and we found there are 3 iQue official retail stores in her city. So she is going to go by all 3 and see if she can find me an iQue Player (The units are still listed on the companies site).

She also will get me a JXD 301 but no Vii (she seen the price on the sheet posted on assember and said no way, too much). :(

She probably doesn't want to pay so much for something that might end up being garbage (Looks like it, given Chinese products these days). That, or she's the one paying for things and she doesn't have the yuans for it. :)

As for the IQue thing, I probably would perfer the JXD 301 over the IQue. The IQue is more of a novelty than anything else. Once you realize that its just a N64, with very limited games, all in Chinese, you'll start to get buyers remorse like a few people I know :p

It's more we both really don't feel like paying $100+ for something stupid like it. It was just be fun to get one if it was cheaper but not really worth forking out so much money for it.

Actualy the iQue is more a collectors thing for me then anything else. I'm still a N64 fan (I have a boxed 64, box DD unit, I wrote a N64 emu for psp). JXD 301 I want mostly to hack on to see what it can do. It's a pretty powerful cpu if it can run unoptimised opensource emus at the speeds it does (its 500mhz, not 600mhz like people thought).

Hmm, well bare in mind the IQue store might not actually have IQue units in stock. The last time I was looking, I saw lots of IQue GBA games, but nothing regarding the actual console, let alone the multi-player hub for it. I don't think it was very popular to begin with. But hopefully you'll have better luck!

As for spending, I totally agree. I wouldn't spend the cash on something that would (in all likelyness) end up as a worthless purchase, if not just for the short novelty of it.

You'll probably want to bring back more "ethnic" gifts and such over the standard stuff sold in many parts of asia.

I know it's a long shot to find an iQue Player but maybe she will get lucky. If she don't find it, i wont be that heart broken since out of all things I wanted the JXD i wanted more and thoes are pretty common in china.

Actualy what would probably be heart breaking is she does find the iQue player but can't get any games for it (yeah i know they're flashed into a small cart that plugs into the system).

Not fully sure what you find "ethnic" unless you mean trinquets or antiques. My gf usualy brings a few of thoes things back anyways (as well her mother ships her stuff from time to time).
