    I bought this product:

    $(KGrHqF,!lkFBsdsy2hHBQjKWol73w~~60_12.JPG
VGA or Component Video (YPbPr) to HDMI Converter

I connect the Dreamcast using a dreamcast vgabox, and i have ghosting problem, if i buy a better vga cable, can i fix this?
If i use component video on my PS2, no problem.

PD: I have the old Kuro DC VGA Box.

sounds like its the vgabox that is the problem or a combination of the two together

Sync issues. I doubt a better cable will fix this but buying a Framemeister probably will.

Maybe you should get another TV/converter then if the framemeister is too much expensive for you (for me too btw)?

That really is a huge issue!

What components are in the VGA box? Are you using extremely long cables? Are you sure the DC is outputting 480p and not 480i?

The Dreamcast outputs ideal broadcast-compliant video so the HDMI converter shouldn't tripped up by it.

That doesn't make any sense. The number of active lines in a video frame (the visible ones) are not the actual number of lines sent to the display or in this case the converter. A HDMI converter should at the very least support:

    480p (525 lines total), 720p (750 lines total) and 1080i (1125 lines total)

480i is RARELY supported by TVs over HDMI. My guess is that the converter is receiving 480i and confused.

    Dreamcast output is 480p.

the only solution i see is to open the box and try to do a internal mod.

You mean VGA right ? (as in the input to this box), HDMI supports it just fine.

You could be onto something here, one user over at Shmups had us all baffled why his Dreamcast wasn't working right with his XRGB mini, turns out it was faulty and outputting 480i with a standard VGA box attached. Should never happen on a unmodded VGA box. If you could find a old display with VGA in just to test you get a picture you can eliminate this possibility.

Thanks for linking to my original thread
    http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...6-Problem-with-Dreamcast-VGA-cable-SYNC-lines

I'll post my results and maybe we can solve this issue

I've tried two units so far

    • LinkStyle LK-219410 (also sold as C&E, Lenkeng - all Chinese Mafia!)
    • C2G Cables To Go TRULink 40010
    http://www.cablestogo.com/product/40010#specs

    Tested on two TV's
    • SHARP AQUOS LC-32D62U
    • SAMSUNG UN32EH5000 (current)
    https://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/UN32EH5000FXZA-specs

I also tried running the signal thru a KVM (help SYNC?)
    TRENDnet TK-205K
    http://www.trendnet.com/products/proddetail.asp?prod=100_TK-205K#tabs-solution02

    SYMPTOMS
random ghosting, flickering, jumping image, dark lines, no signal

I also have same issues with 640x480p output from my old laptop. Higher resolutions work fine.
Chinese Mafia Dreamcast VGA Cable works perfect on VGA monitors.

Sometimes I can get perfect output with newer NG:DEV.TEAM games
    http://www.ngdevteam.com/

This makes me think there's some newer code that addresses SYNC method? My laptop's running Linux if that makes a difference?

I've been using a simple Composhit to HDMI converter in the meantime.
