Girl plays video games til she passes out, has to get feet amputated

I'm not sure if this is real news or not but I'll post it because I covered it myself. I heard about this from a friend of mine that goes to school with her. For an art project she was just going to stay up playing video games until she physically couldn't anymore but ends up developing blood clots due to dehydration exacerbated by a pre-existing condition she didn't know she had.

The blood clots gathered in her feet and she ended getting gangrene and eventually they had to be amputated. Nightmare stuff. Check it out here.

She wanted to play games until she physically couldn't for an Art Project? What the hell has that got to do with any form of art? And why on earth would you want to try such a thing? Some people are just pure idiots.

How is that an art project? I think this was more of an ATTENTION PROJECT.

 

Personally I can't play videogames for more than an hour or two without taking a break. After a while I start to get a headache and I feel disoriented.

 

I don't have issues like headache or disorientation, but i can't play videogames for a long time either.

 

I haven't experienced that in a while. Headache isn't exactly the right word. It's more like a kind of altered consciousness.

 

How are you sitting? Playing in a well lit room etc?

 

Like I said, it's been a while since I've experienced this, so my memory of it isn't perfect. But I don't think it has anything to do with lighting or posture. It feels like my brain just gets worn out. Not tired, just overstimulated, I guess. It used to happen when I would watch TV for a long time, too. I'm not sure if it would happen to me now, but I don't really want to find out.

 

I can , in the right level of comfort , play for periods up to 10+ hours easily.(I adjust my position every so often many times though. And also get up for breaks/food/biological needs)

I have restless legs though no matter what. So I always move my feet around against whatever i'm sitting on. If my bed, then my feet play with the part of the frame near it. If on a couch, the cushions.

 

The guy in the video seems to be almost breaking a smile the whole time. I'm not sure if I can take this seriously.

That being said, she didn't lose her feet completely, which makes me less depressed.

 

With exception to bathroom breaks and quick runs to the fridge 12hrs is the longest I've gone.

Is she single?

 

She said it was for her thesis. So it probably wasn't an art project, but part of a study about art (videogames). In other words, she did it as an experiment to see what happens to a person when they play videogames excessively.

 

Still not a cleaverthing to do. ;(

 

For scientific research class, back in high school (1997 or so), a friend and I "experimented" to see how long we could play video games and how long other people could play, and what effects they experienced.

One friend bailed out after 3 hours or so. I went down after the eleventh hour. The other friend pretty much played until early Sunday morning (we started on Friday afternoon).

We were 16, so maybe we were more resistant or something.

I did finish Final Fantasy IX in three sittings (two 18 hour sessions, one last 14 hour session) back in 2000. But I did pause to get a sandwich or wash my face or go to the bathroom.

Anyway, just thinking about all of my youthful excess makes my feet tingle and my nostalgia hurt.

I'd understand if she was diabetic or something?

 

I did Jade empire in like 20 hours straight when it came out. Obvious food/toilet breaks though.

 

Deffo would though, i'd like her to wank me off with her gammy feet.
