I always liked Minority Report for GC/XBOX/PS2. It was a solid 3D beat-em-up that made the most of its combos and rag-doll physics. Even without the license I think it would have been just as fun.
I'm actually surprised to see someone mention this one. I was never a Star Trek fan, but that game was very good. I even recommended to friends back in the day, saying it was as good as Half-Life. It's a shame that a lot of people probably never played because of the Star Trek licence itself. By the way, is there any way to buy it today?
I don't think it's been rereleased, it's not as expensive as some games to get used, but I'd stay away from the PS2 port. From what I hear Majesco botched it.
Is that the Simpsons game that's sort of Grand Theft Auto 3 based? If so, that is a great game. I don't like the one that's based on Crazy Taxi 3, much, though (Road Rage?).
Yeah, Hit & Run was the GTA Simpsons game. Also Road Rage was indeed the Crazy Taxi-based one. H&R was way better due to how much exploration you could accomplish in Springfield.
The G.I. Joe games for NES would still be pretty good without any licensing. Die Hard Arcade counts even if it was a re-branded version of Dynamite Deka EDIT: Maximum Carnage. Somewhat bland at times but still good. The soundtrack is pretty great too.
Well, considering the re-release had to be called Sega Racing Classic, I guess it qualifies ;-) http://segaretro.org/Sega_Racing_Classic
The Beavis & Butthead genesis game was great. It was a rare excellent adventure game developed for a 16-bit console. i.e. it wasn't a port of a classic PC adventure game. It also came out after well after the lucas arts adventure game boom of the early 90s, so whoever made it was taking a bit of a risk.
I got it on the PS3. Was able to play lots of multiplayer races on the first few months, but it's completely dead nowadays. SEGA should port this to PC / Steamworks. Give the community the ability to mod the game with new tracks and liveries. They could go crazy and make a Race bundle including Daytona USA, Daytona USA 2 and Scud Race. But they don't like money, so emulation it is.
If there's one knock on the 360/PS3 version of Daytona USA, it's that the achievements are laughably easy. I got the full 200 gamerscore in a couple hours.
Completely agree on Die Hard Arcade, and also would say Die Hard Trilogy as it had the 3 separate game styles that were pretty entertaining.
Die Hard Trilogy had the *worst* voice call outs though, sounded nothing like Bruce Willis. Was great value for money though. "I don't like to lose!" "Let me drive!"
The B&B game was really difficult from what I remember. I don't think I ever finished it, but I did like the gameplay and the humor. There were just certain parts that drove me up the wall.
:witless: Arcade Longplay [207] Bucky O'Hare loved the verbal ace in the intro..:smile-new: ... Super Battletoads (Arcade) ... The Simpsons Arcade - 4 players Playthrough ^^ all konami rib crackers, similar gameplay even, long levels...:witless: ... Aliens Arcade ^^ wicked ST to this game! (sounds a bit like thundercross coin-op)
^^ aye! 1994 by rare, published by electronic arts. :smile-new: (shows the copyright info on the game startup/youtube video)
No, it's not. Almost all games say that. Rare, the developers, created the Battletoads IP. It's licensed for use on the Nintendo - ALL NES games that aren't by Nintendo say that.
