Need one to power some Xbox things from the UK, so I was curious if you guys had any recommendations? I know I could swap power supplies, but that isn't an option currently. Plan on placing an order in the next couple of hours if possible.
Generally any one that is rated 200W or better would be good, although if you can afford it get one that is rated 750W as the extra cost is tiny. This is similar to what we use http://www.amazon.com/Power-Bright-...1TB4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1332502231&sr=8-1
I agree with Jamtex. I use a similar model and it works like a champ. A word of warning though. Don't ever use a surge protector with this kind of device!
To clarify, I assume that you mean that one should not plug the surge protector into the transformer? That could indeed cause an explosion and/or fire, but simply plugging the transformer into the surge protector like you would any other electronics device, would cause no such harm.
I read about the surge protector thing, so Im good on that front. I ordered a 750 watt one from Amazon, its waiting for me at my parents house (shipped to the wrong address, whoops!)
Can I use My US power cord, Standard 2 Prong, in the 220 Output without issue? I Can't find my UK Cord, But I think my Converter allows It. I Just Don't know if there are differences In Grounding Or Something weird Like That. So UK power supply In Xbox -> Us power Cord -> 220 On converter
Yes that should be fine as the cable is rated for 250V at around 5A, I've done it when I needed to plug in a UK DC or Xbox into a StepUp. Although make sure it is the official Xbox lead as some C8 leads may only be rated for 120V and might burst into flame and burn your house down. Also do not plug the cable into the step up when power is running to the Step up, always make sure you unplug it first, attach the cable and then plug the step up in.
