Looks like the stores are getting rid of older stock. At Circuit City you can get a 32" 720p LCD TV for $549: They're knocking the prices down a lot. This 15" HDTV/DVD model was reduced to $199: Sharp 32" Aquos LCD HDTV for $899 after $800 discount: They also have a couple of 50" Panasonics that they're discounting $1,000 off of. No, I don't work for Circuit City or anything, but it looks like HDTV audience is about to get a lot bigger. Pretty soon the prices are going to drop to the point where a majority of the gamers out there can afford one. Some college kid in a dorm room can have a 15" HDTV with built in DVD player for $199. That would seem to be a pretty big hurdle for the gamining industry to clear.
Yeah the adoption rate is getting better. I myself am waiting for the 1080p tv's to go down in price.
Why should a LCD cost any more than that though? IMO the best stuff to buy are clearance 720p+ CRT HDTVs!
I really like a Mitsu DLP thats on sale, but I would like to see it live or heard the opinion of somebody who has it. Dunno but is like DLPs arent on par with current LCDs...
they price now is very good compared to a year or two back. more and more people are getting plasmas and lcd tvs.
I have a Mitsubishi 65'' DLP and I love it. My only complaint (and this may happen with any 1080p tv set regardless of the style) is that older gaming systems become jittery on the tv. The Dreamcast is about the oldest console that looks good on the screen. Anything older than that gets jittery but is still playable and still fun.
I would love a 32"-37" 1080p LCD TV for under a $1000 US. However, I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.
Yeah I know, but that happens with pretty much everything in SD, and well theres some Tvs with upscaler chips, like that new gateway one, but arent cheap... If I buy this DLP I'll keep my old Tv for SD games and video.
This is because new TV's don't always know what to do with 240p video; they freak out when a game console only uses even or odd lines. I assume your TV forces one frame to be even and one frame to be odd instead of only even or odd. This causes the image to shift one line up and down at 60hz. Dreamcast doesn't do that because most Dreamcast games are interlaced.
