Got into my first car accident

after 9 years of safe driving i finally got hit today. lady didnt even stop, never heard any brakes. she hit me so hard she knocked my hat off! and despite my standing on the brake peddle, she managed to push me into the car infront of me.

im fine. the doctor said i had no whip lash, but had spasms in my neck and upper back. so i cant work for the next two days.

wanna know the best part? lady that hit me had no insurance, no licence, and the cop at the scene thinks shes here illegally! AWESOME! so i can rest assured any medical bills and damage to my car (i only have liability insurance) are out of my pocket!!

the blessing is the car drives fine. the radiator is leaking a tad, and the bumpers are both hanging by a thread. im gonna cruse the bone yard tomorrow for replacements.

They need to bring back indentured servitude for situations like this.

Count your blessings, I was a passenger in a 4 car accident back in 2002. I've had 3 surgeries now, and still can't walk without aids (crutches or cain). Even my accident could have been a lot worse, so that's all you need to tell yourself, it could have been worse.

 

Damn car accidents are shitty...i got into a troubled one in June, one month and a half of hospital... :/ what can i say, shit happens, man. Its just good you made it out of it in all of your parts you know, on those things you always have to look at the positive side...

have two nice days off, spend them walking (if you feel like), playing or having sex if you like...that's the best way to forget everything

Crash in Mexico, though, and whomever pays the bigger bribe wins the "insurance" claim. That's how our police works.

And that's why a bus crashed into my car and could run away without consequence.

I agree. Sue her. Let her know this is what happens when you come here illegally. Call INS too.

Also, take a week off like Assembler said because if you feel more pain, always say you do, you can seek more money from her in court. But try not to let it get out of hand otherwise you'll be paying more legal fees than what you will be getting if you do get any money from her.

Bit of a bummer though when anyone is involved in an accident......can shake you up!

 

hmm had already 3 car accidents with my own car and was passenger at 3 more pretty impressive statistic is that never someone got hurt really hard even that the cars totalled completly everytime (ok last accident was hard for a biker but he got lucky even he drove to fast...)

just get a lawyer best thing you can do worst case scenario the lady trys to get you involved for blocking her way...

 

There should be far greater penalties for people driving without a license. My mom and little sister were hit by a Ford Excursion (big fucking SUVs) a few years ago. My mom was fine, but my little sister was knocked out and had to use a wheelchair for a few months. She still has scars on her face from it.

Here's the kicker - if anyone had been riding on the passenger side (up front), they would've been killed. I almost went, but I was busy with something that day. It scared the hell out of me.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the guy was driving with a revoked license and no insurance. He pretty much got off with a slap on the wrist (I think he had to pay a fine). My mom is still fighting with our insurance company about who has to pay for it.

Im glad that you are OK for the most part anyway, it definatly could have been worse. Definatly sue her, especially because of who she is and how it happened.

Just be glad it wasnt a work related injury. My brother can barely walk at times, has a messed up ankle, 1 surgery to remove a disk in his back, may need another one, because of a work related injury. The lawsuit has been going on for years now, and all hes seen is a few grand (read: 5k or so).

 

Good to see you arent seriously injured. I had my first accident on my way to a job interview. The rear end came out from under me as I was changing lanes (getting on the highway). A tractor trailer nailed me doing 60, but he managed to swerve out of the way and hit the box of the truck. Spun me around real good. Other than a couple scrapes I was A-ok. So were they thank go..and the horses they were carrying. I owe my life to that truck...Had I been in my car I would be dead.

but seriously, thanks for all of the advice. i got the number to a good lawer, and im gonna call him right after i get a hold of my insurance man, which should be within the next half hour.

I went on vacation for 10 days, and came back to find someone hit my car... which is on the 3rd floor of the parking garage in my building. WTF?!
