Funny you should mention it greatsaintlouis since metroid prime is a game that is designed to constant be loading, and i hear it has some glitches with newer cubes. It;s odd hearing cubes that have disc read errors, mines worked perfect, but nintendo is ussually know for making systems that can takie a beating and still work, possibly some cube units were made cheaply?

  2. I thought that a batch of cheap drives was indeed the reason a lot of the Gamecubes got read errors - something about a lot of the cubes released around a past Christmastime had the crappy drives?

I've had my cube since the european launch day and never had any troubles with it, it has no cracks on the controller/casing nor does it have disc reading problems.

My PS2 is about 1,5 years old and still works fine althoug the dvd drive is getting a bit noisy when playing games like GTA3:VC which is comstantly loading.

My X-box still works fina and thats already 2+ years old, although i've heared the the hard drive tends to shit out after having 2 or more years of daily use :Hangman:

The drive being noisy is a common problem amongst high speed combo CD/DVD drives.Unfortunately the wear and tear on the drive running at such high speed causes it to emmit a louder noise over time.Still if you have the volume up you cannot hear it.

Pain in the ass if you are trying to get a late night session in when everyone else is in bed.

Played somemmore of this now and this really is the fantastic masterpeice it has been hyped up as.Think Ikaruga engine but with Gradius gameplay and more polys. The bosses are just amazing lasting up to twenty minutes and I've not even managed to get past stage 1-3 yet. This is rock hard like Ikaruga but is far more exciting.I cannot reccomend this title enough and the cd makes not one bit of difference, the game is 400 meg, massive for a shooter when you consider Ikaruga was only 17 or so.

The game is all polygons and has some amazing effects, you have to see them,I simply can't put some of them into words.Has 2 player option and has another Vic Viper in one of the first stages I played helping you co op style. The game has had a couple of short cut scenes so far as well with speech included in english.

I've not been into shooters really since Radiant so I am extremely chuffed with this.I got it for a tenner from a mate who bought it by accident instead of getting the Gradius deluxe pack for the PSX(don't ask, this is what happens when you let your wife buy you games on ebay.)so as you can imagine I am over the moon.

A steal at not even twenty dollars.hehe :smt023 :smt040 :drinkers: :butthead:

Is Gradius V going to make it to the US, and if so, is it going to be on Playstation 2?

    Yes

It makes more sense to just translate it then to port it for one audience.

  12. Gradius V is slated for release here in the 'States on September 14th, I believe - I'll be preordering it next time I go into town, I can't hardly wait.

It's nice to hear that this game truely is the stunner it deserves to be, but dammit, do you all have to talk about it and make it ever more clear that you have it and I don't? :smt019 :smt043
