Wow! GT4 supports 480p/1080i during game play and photo mode. And according to lik-sang they haven't encountered any frame rate issue... amazing stuff :smt023 having HD PDP I'm definately going to pick this one up. now let's see whan M$ can do with its Xbox :-D cheers
I'm going to kill somone if they don't make a 60Hz mode on the PAL version, though :angry Or maybe I'll just get my PS2 chipped...
Hmmm, rather drastic measure to take.... ...It's still only gonna be a PS2 game after all !!! Chill, relax....:smt030
WOW hopefully the US version also supports 1080i (aswell as my tv, don't know .... but think he can handle it)
Boo yak asha like a MOFO!!Happy New Year!!!! The ps2 is proving to be the console best used by dev co's as we enter this last cycle of software this generation.I personally believe that nothing can touch Metal Gear Solid 3 and Gt4 graphically and they are showing effects and textures never thought possible on the Playstation 2. The graphics and textures in Gran Turismo 3 are much better than those seen in Gotham Racing 2, run them side by side to see this. The only thing missing from GT4 is the damage and Kazunori Yamauchi has stated that this will be present in the next game and the only reason it's not in this one is because of time constraints and the problem he had implementing damage into the online mode...which was only removed at the last minute and should be present in the upgraded release of thi game next year.No matter what you think of Sony, it's pretty hard to ignore that this is the greatest driving gme on the planet. The other games are coming closer now but they still haven't quite caught up with this gem of a series.I must admit for arcade racing, Ridge Racers and Outrun 2 are brilliant but for sheer realism, nothing can touch Gran Turismo. :smt045
hmm didnt they just scale the picture up to 1080i cause i cant believe the 3d engine would run fast enough on a ps2 in native 1080i
Gran Turismo 4 - Photo mode FUN! rayer: :smt023 http://i-bbs.sijex.net/imageBoard.jsp?id=gt4&count=0
Compare Forza Motorsport to GT4, nintendomad. Forza Motorsport excretes all over GT4, then pisses on it for good measure.
haha yeh! With all the hype from the 'illegal to export because it's so god damned powerfull' because of the raw 'power' of the emotion engine I never thought it woud be possible to see such turd graphics and so many jaggies in my life! :smt043
I thought I had read/heard somewhere that the reason there was no realistic damage in the GT series was on account of car manufacturers not wanting to see their cars get beat up - it came down to either having realistic damage or official licenses. Is this true, or just another one of those rumors?
no they said it was due to online play issue... could that mean when they release promised online version it will feature the damage?
i heard it was because damage wouldn't have been enough realistic to be a good feature with the actual hardware, this and because car compagnies don't want to see their products being crushed in pieces. The gran tourismo creator is a perfectionist, he won't include things that aren't perfect in his games. that's why online gaming and damage won't be inclued. And this is a reason why you couldn't see the driver in other versions of the game.
