That's a laugh about online gaming. It's so easy to put something online...but Sony's half assed internet component screws everything up.
Except that PC games like Grandprix Legends piss on Gran Turismo from a great height. Oh, and Forza is a complete turd.
I think he may be a perfectionist, but system limitations on the ageing PS2 won't let the game come to life as he wanted it to. Think about it - they're pusing the system enough as it is on the visuals and the physics - the PS2 will probably fall apart (again) or melt if it got pushed any harder to do real time damage!
Yes Kaz Yamauchi said all these things about real time damage at one point and used several different reasons for not including it in his game.Online mode, not getting the manufacturer's consent, and problems with the ps2 hardware were all reasons that he stated for not adding the real time damage to the game. At the end of the day though, this game will sell like hotcakes all over the world and has milllions of loyal fans.I also believe that it is a great technical feat on the ps2 and anyone who thinks it isn't is living in a dream world. It is also a great driving game as well and anybody who denies this is either a fool or wouldn't know a good game if it jumped up and bit them on the arse!!! :smt045
Someone's been following the chaos over at GTPlanet I see, lol. On the 28th they had a thread that I seriously had trouble refreshing quickly enough to read. GT4 in 1080i is beautiful IRL. The owner of my local import games store has a copy and I saw it running on his Runco plasma, it looks unbelievable. Although, a $14,000 TV tends to do that.......
The textures are very blurry though...just check out the trackside grass. Of course you're not likely to notice it during gameplay, but it had to be said.
in case you haven't followed AVS forum thread it looks like the consensus is with GT4 PS2 is doing fake 1080i. You can read through the rather long thread but it basically comes down to the fact PS2 lacks the practical capability to implement true 1080i in real playable form. still good publicity stunt by SONY to pull over M$ after seeing Xbox was promoted as HD console with just two 1080i - one being fake 1080i - and handful of 720p titles. cheers p.s. before anyone flame me I do have Xbox, PS2, GC as well as host of last-gen consoles
