If it's to much for the PS2 like you are suggesting it would mean that the graphics for the online version should be shite to be able to play online.
If this is the case i think they won't sell a lot of online discs.

Everyone just take a deep breath and calm down for the moment.

It does suck that there won't be an online mode for GT4 at launch but I'd hold off on the bitching for the moment. If it isn't ready then it isn't ready. You all know damn well that if they were to release it the way it is then everyone would be bitching about that. I'd rather have it done right then half-assed.

The real thing is how Sony/Polyphony both has and plans to deal with this. They must have known a while ago about the online problems and should have been more forthcoming. Especially considering that this is a major feature of the game and the way they touted it. I'll also be right there bitching with everyone else if they try double dipping (which I doubt) and charge full price. As far as I know though there hasn't been any announcements on what they intend to do. So I'll hold off till then.

My guess (and this is only a guess) is that it will end up as a packed in with the PSTwo much like Twisted Metal Black Online was with the network adaptor along with a mail-in rebate for those who bought GT4. Worst case scenario is that it will cost another $19.99 which still bites but if it ends up as good they say then I'll pay it. I also think if they do charge for it will end up having more cars and tracks added to use. Kazunori Yamauchi is a perfectionist and is always adding new stuff after all.

I really want the online features too, but till there i will be entertained with the Simulation mode. On GT3 it took me 1 year and a half to complete the game (All championships on Simulation mode, All license tests, All arcade mode, All time trials)

GT4 is 4 times bigger than GT3, in terms of cars, tracks and events.

I really hope that you don't flame Polyphony Digital for being greedy. After GT2, all their work is on GT-series. Plus maybe it was Sony that demanded to release it on xmas.

PS: When i mentioned Sega, i was not criticizing them as a whole company. You know i like Sega a lot. I just wanted to remember they did the same thing on the Xbox with SegaGT.

    Peace :smt083

They did that on the x-box because x-box live didn't exist at the first release of the game :smt023

Yes, precisely. There's no comparison there, XB Live was a ways off when SEGA GT was released.

Well, this still keeps the same discussion on the air. Why they didn't choose to wait for Xbox live to launch before releasing the game?

Halo was released on Xbox before Xbox live lauched, and worked online. Same thing with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 on the PS2 (i think on the Xbox too)

Plz understand that i'm only talking about it, for us to discuss. A Healthy discussion. I don't want to protect Sony, Polyphony Digital or even Sega. I'm not saying they were right or wrong, and i don't want to be their "advocate.

Again on GT, i would have waited more for the online mode, but since they decided to do it, what can i do? Not playing a game, that i'm 100% sure it will be amazing?

Anyway, i need to go back to play Doom 3. I finally got it and it's creepy as i thought it would be. I keep switching: Flashlight, Machine Gun, Flashlight, ... :smt067

    Tunneling

You can play it online by tunneling it.

    Re: Tunneling

Unofficially of course. What's the point of askign why SEGA didn't include networking in SEGA GT when they no company would ever advocate unofficial tunnelling?
