No other GTAs were planned to be modded. Like most games people will reverse engineer the compression and formats to make modding possible.

I just started downloading it. It looks like it's going to take a little over 2 hours. I had some difficulties freeing up enough space on my SSD so I would be able to install it. I deleted everything on the drive that I possibly could, but it still wasn't enough, so I ended up lowering the virtual memory size. My system has 16GB of RAM, so reducing the virtual memory size shouldn't be an issue. This is just a temporary fix so that I can play the game immediately. I still plan on installing a new drive, so I'll have enough space for this game and a bunch of other stuff. Once I've played the game a little, I'll share my impressions.

I'm waiting until I go to the store. If I'm paying $70 for a game I'm definitely getting a physical copy.

Don't you have a HDD for storage? I don't haven't installed any games on the SSD, I assumed it wouldn't make much of a difference for games.

I think load times are faster on SSDs. I could be wrong on that since I don't own an SSD to compare to a HDD.

SSD load times are much faster for games, there's barely any seek time.

GTA V just squeezes every last bit of power out of my CPU. The CPU fan revs to keep it cool..

If anyone plays online, my name is the same as it is here.

Ah ok, so they are faster.

I would play GTAV online with others but 800x600 at 75Hz with graphical glitches (caused by my laptop's APU not being good enough, not GTAV) and the bare minimum settings isn't very enjoyable. I'm gonna wait until I can upgrade my "new" desktop before playing the game online.

On my current build, I do get 24-32 FPS. That's with optimum settings from NVIDIA.

I had a low framerate in some parts, but it still wasn't running smoothly in 60Hz. I bumped it up to 75Hz and it runs a little smoother. Still looks bad and seeing through the floor is pretty bad. Not to mention the gigantic blob of large pixels that is supposed to be the distant areas.

I was having issues with shadows the other night, I thought my GPU was on it's way out since they looked like artifacts. Probably the GPU driver was having a bad night.

Well that's good to know. At 60gb I probably still wouldn't install it on my SSD, I'd have no space left afterwords >_<

To improve performance, I always turn off MSAA in game settings.
I use the Nvidia control panel to force the game to use FXAA, it looks pretty good and there is no noticable performance drop.

Like I said in the "Games I just finished / completed" thread, I felt like it was a great game but after mission 5 or so it was the same difficulty, never had much of a challenge apart from 1 or 2 select missions. I was using partial assisted aim(because, I really hate the feel of the 360 thumbsticks, I'm not accurate with them).

Also, the game was suffering from fps issues and it would crash quite frequently(once a day for me). Similar to MonkeyBoyJoey's solution, I found that the game set my refresh rate to 25hz by default and changing it to 60 hz made it tons smoother.

All that aside, it was a great game and definitively right behind San Andreas as my favorite

I have an SSD and an HDD. I installed GTA V on my SSD. The only real difference is loading times. Not having to wait for the game to load is pretty nice. I currently have 2 OSs installed on 2 partitions on a 240GB SSD, as well as a bunch of data on a 1TB HDD. I want to move one of the partitions to a separate 128GB SSD and then use the 240GB SSD just for Windows (which I use pretty much exclusively for gaming). For right now, I was able to fit it on the SSD I have installed.

I've been playing GTA V quite a bit for the past few days. I'm really enjoying it. I was having some problems with slowdown, but I updated my graphics drivers and changed some settings, and now it runs at a pretty stable 60fps. I have almost everything on the highest settings. There is still a little slowdown in certain parts, but it's not a big deal. I could probably improve the performance even more if I reduced some of the settings, but for right now I'm fine with it. The game is very pretty. Especially the cars are really impressive.

The story is a little ridiculous, and the voice acting isn't great, but it's still entertaining. It's still really fun to just drive around and crash into stuff. I figured out how to steal a plane from the airport, and then I landed (crashed) into the ocean, but managed to survive. It's really addictive; I've probably been playing it too much.

I only played the PS3 version, but I totally agree with this. Being an old school gamer I used to things like Megaman and Robowarrior kicking my ass. GTAV was a piece of cake, but I guess games are about the spectacle and story rather than the challenge and high scores nowadays.

It's a big difference in loading time then, huh? The only reason I ask is both me and my room mate have NFS Rivals installed, mine on HDD his on SSD, and I just don't see a huge improvement in loading. Then again, that game is heavily dependent on the internet, so maybe most of that loading is connecting to servers and junk.

GTA V does look very pretty from the videos I've seen. I'm pretty curious as to how my computer will handle it (AMD FX 8120, Radeon HD 7800). I seriously doubt max settings, but it would be nice to have them fairly high.

Make sure your video card has more than 1GB of Video RAM. My APU has only 512MB of Video RAM so GTAV wouldn't let me change any settings, including decreasing water reflection detail. I was only able to change the refresh rate. Hopefully it runs better for you. My closest friend pre-ordered it and can't even run it on her laptop. It crashes on start-up. I'm thinking it's because she is using the on-board Intel HD 4000.

That's why I love Mafia 2. I have completed the game 5 times.
Even on medium difficulty a lot of missions are really challenging.
But I like playing it on hard. It's so satisfying and rewarding to complete the game on the highest difficulty setting.

Yeah, there's a pretty big difference in loading time between SSD and an HDD. With an SSD, most games load in a few seconds. GTA V takes maybe 10 seconds, which is kind of a lot compared to other games - but that's because it's an incredibly huge game. HDD loading is a lot slower. It doesn't really affect the gameplay; it just means you don't have to wait.

For what it's worth, I installed it on my HDD as opposed to my SSD (not enough room) and didn't think the load times were excessive. I don't exactly have a top-spec machine, either:

    AMD A10-7800
    16GB DDR3 (1866 or 1600, don't remember)
    Radeon HD 6850
1 TB Western Digital Blue / 256 GB Samsung Evo 840

The framerate isn't fantastic at my native resolution (1920x1200) but it's playable and I may be upgrading shortly anyway. I'm waiting for the new Radeon 300 series to arrive but am getting impatient.

I don't either, but I get a very low-end framerate around 25-37. I'll get 60 in some areas but if bushland around 21.

Been playing a lot of online, but not doing much since everyone leaves mid game and so on. Need people for heists.
