And that's what I was afraid of. There is standard which defines such functionality but no cables.

If it's helpful, I can send over one of the M->M I got with my JP21 Switch from Japan for you to review, or I can open it and take photographs. Whichever you prefer.

For what it's worth, I'm sure retro_console_accessories on eBay could make them no problem. Every one of their items can be customized however you want generally.

Ok, so there are at least some JP21 devices which use male-to-male cables. I'm pretty sure wiring of my JP21 male-to-male cable is correct, that was just a question of the availability. Thanks for the offer though!

I'd be happy to pay a little extra to get the JP male to male cable with the switch box.

I want whatever makes this easier for superg. I've already done plenty of legwork getting all my systems in order, I can do a little more.

Update: I did some testing over the weekend and I see some small issues with Dreamcast and Jaguar. I'm looking into it, thus no shipping yet.

Best to take the time for a great product than rush out something not so great.

Scart cables are so common you shouldn't bother with an overpriced homemade one. Retro_console_accessories is great for good quality, difficult to source console cables, but you can just get your Scart cable from amazon.co.uk for a fraction of the price. Choose wisely though, as quality can vary greatly.

A short flat ribbon like this one is good for daisy-chaining your switches http://www.amazon.co.uk/Scart-Premium-Cable-CABLES-ALL/dp/B001VY6N0U/
A longer thick, rounded and gold-platted cable like this one is good to connect to your display http://www.amazon.co.uk/Duronic-Gold-Plated-Speed-Scart/dp/B0035T38ZM/
Basically if it feels cheap, then it is. Take the thickest, it means coax with wire shielding to prevent crosstalk. Gold-plating is a nice bonus according to audiophiles. And keep your cables the shortest possible. Don't buy a 2m long cable if you only need 50cm.

A quick question, hope it’s not been answered already: Would a cable with a built in sync stripper (LM1881) work with the switch? I know the integrated EL1883 can be turned off, I was just wondering what happened if i had the EL1883 on.

Well, it'll clean the sync twice in that case :)

Will there be a quality loss if using RGB SCART cables that aren't coaxial cable? I've seen SCART cable sellers say that you should have coaxial cabling if connecting to a switchbox, but was unsure if it is necessary or simply a chance to sell more expensive product. Also do scart cables wear down when reconnecting systems using a passive adaptor, if anyone here has knowledge on the subject?

    You mean SCART connectors, right?
Everything wears down but I doubt it will happen ever under normal usage.

At least for me living in the US, with shipping from amazon UK it comes out to be about the same price as retro_console_accessories. So YMMV depending on where you live in regards to pricing.

No idea, need to see the internals of that cable. The biggest problem is the audio noise, audio wires should be shielded or totally separated from the video wires - in this case you'll get proper sound. If they are separated (so they say in that ebay listing) then it's good cable. On the other hand you need only 7 wires for RGBS + Audio and those ready-made cables are usually fully wired having separate grounds and other signals nobody needs thus wires are very thin. For myself I make custom cable which carries only needed wires and audio goes separately.

Hey superg, I don't mean to be a bother but I was wondering when you might think these would become available for normal sale? I understand it must be quite difficult to produce on a large scale, I just finished furnishing my entire basement and have ordered a framemeister/scart cables which has all been quite expensive, but the last piece of my setup is a high quality scart switcher and the ones you make seem like the ones i'd want to nab. I'm just wondering if it's going to be weeks, months or years if you had to guess, thanks!

Yea the connectors on the scart cable. I just wondered how tough the pins are on scart cables. Mainly if I'm switching system cables out now with a Scart to JP21 adaptor. Will my pins wear out to where by the time I purchase a scart switch my pins are damaged? I've never handled a scart cable so I don't know how durable/delicate they are.
