wouldn't it be alot easier to just buy some JP21 to SCART adapters?

 

Not very convenient given SCART connector sizes, would look very messy.

 

yeah I guess, but it would save you the hassle of making 2 versions of your switch

 

I do agree but it's up to the user. They simply want JP21 version. And I would say 8 JP21->SCART adapters price is equivalent just to get the SCART versions of console cables.

 

The switches have started arriving to me and I'll have at least half packed this weekend. It'll be at least a few weeks before I know if there are extras.

I have no idea if there are other waiting to see if there are any extras, but if there is, put my name down for one. The money is burning a hole in my pocket.

I wanted to post a more detailed update, to try and answer all the questions people have been asking.

First, thanks so much to everyone for all the support! Ever since I tried one of the original gscartsw's, I knew this was a game-changer and the best option for most retro-gamers. I'm really happy to help get this product out there for everyone to use. That being said, I can't respond to any more emails, Tweets, FB Messages, etc regarding the orders. I try to respond to EVERY email I receive, but this is getting a bit overwhelming. I'm SO happy that people are as excited as I am about these switches, but I just don't have time to both process the orders and answer "Where can I buy one?", or "When's mine shipping?" emails.

Here's everything I know right now. Please let me know if I forgot to address anything:


There are no switches for sale and there is no second pre-order list. We don't know when the next batch will be for sale, but there WILL be a second batch and we'll post here, as well as Facebook and Twitter when we have more information. Based on how long it took to make this happen, I'd assume at least a few months before more are available.


The only switches being shipped are pre-orders. There are no more for sale. We did make extras, however we need to hold onto them for awhile in case there are any issues; I'm sure one will get lost in shipping, maybe one damaged, etc. We need to make sure that everyone on the pre-order list gets theirs first before doing anything else. After a few weeks, probably May, I'll post if there are extras. There might be none.


Superg has sent me about half of the switches and the other half should arrive to me early next week. I'll start unpacking today and tomorrow, but I work a full-time job and won't be able to put any real time in until this weekend. Also, everyone will receive a tracking number before it's actually shipped, as I plan on processing everything first, then taking them directly to a USPS distribution center. I think that's MUCH safer then just bringing random piles of boxes to any of my local USPS locations. That means if you get a tracking number between now and Monday night, you might not see it on USPS's site until Tuesday.


US ORDERS:
All US orders had shipping included, so you'll simply get an email with a tracking number directly from me. I'll ship via USPS Priority Mail with full insurance on the shipment.


INTERNATIONAL ORDERS:
All international sales (outside of the US) need to be billed for shipping, so here's how this will work:

- I'll create the shipping label and documentation. I plan on checking the cost of both "USPS International Flat-Rate" and "USPS International Priority" and use whichever is cheaper...both will arrive at the same time, but based on weight and country, sometimes one is cheaper then the other.
- You'll get an automatic email from PayPal with your tracking information.
- You'll get an email from me with the shipping cost.
- As soon as you PayPal me the shipping cost, your order will be boxed and ready to ship with the rest.
- No "special shipping requests" - I can't "just put $5" on the package, as that will effect insurance and is illegal. ​

I'll post here, as well as on Facebook and Twitter after all orders have been shipped. After that post, if you haven't gotten a tracking number, please check your spam filter first, then email me and I'll get you the info. After everything has been shipped, I'll start responding to switch-related emails again...but once again, please understand any relevant info will be posted, so unless there's an issue, there's really no reason to contact us.

Thanks for the update RetroRGB. Depending on how well things go with OSSC here in Europe we may be able to use the same manufacturer for GScart in the future, if you both are still up for that.

 

Just want to post that everything superg is saying about JP21 is true. Yes, yes and yes. I am thrilled and very thankful he is taking the time to do them.

 

What pre-order? When the pre-order was opened?

 

That's a shame about the extras not being up for sale. I'll keep my eyes peeled for whenever preorders open again.

 

Pre-orders went up January (looks like the 25th) and everyone on the waiting list got priority. I think the pre-orders sold out in less than a week (4 days?).

 

Ahhhh... then I missed the pre-order window
I'll have to wait for the next batch.

 

I just finished creating the shipping labels for all the international (non-us) orders. I emailed everyone the total shipping cost to the same email address listed on their PayPal account.
