Which you said in a later post is 100-200mA for a 12V adapter. OK. Thanks.
Does anybody know if the NES PSU is center negative or not? (The NES apparently has a rectifier inside so polarity doesn't matter for it, but that doesn't help me.) Anyway at 9V 1.3A, I'm not sure if it's enough for both, if a 12V adapter would need max 200mA. The equivalent amperage for the same wattage (2.4) at 9V is about 267mA, but I don't actually know the max consumption of the NES. So maybe it's better not to risk it...?

Yes, I understood that 7-12V is needed. The cable I linked to claimed to convert the voltage and amperage from 5V 2.1A to 12V 0.6A, not simply change the USB plug to 5.5x2.1mm - I was asking whether that would be enough. From your reply it seems like either you missed this, or you're skeptical that voltage step-up could be done or done properly in a cable this cheap. I'm also skeptical - it looks like just a straight cable - but was wondering if a voltage step-up thingamabob would work. Sounds like it would, as long is it met the specs.

Check eBay and Amazon in all regions for the Tomee Genesis 1 AC adapter...or use an OEM Genesis 1 AC adapter.

It probably didn't work because of other reasons (quality?). Switch doesn't need much power, just the proper specs.

I expected the PSU to be included with this batch, but it wasn't the case. With the next batch I'll bundle one.
Of course I didn't really expect that so many people will have problems with so simple stuff like a power supply - I was wrong.

No offence but taking into account what you've just written here I don't think you understand what you're talking about and I'd strongly advice to go with what is recommended (Tomee Genesis 1 AC adapter...or use an OEM Genesis 1 AC adapter).

I got my letter from Parcelforce this morning and my charges ended being £44.09, which bearing mind we both bought the same products. Confirms to me that HMRC just seem to make up prices as they go along. But then that another story altogether, rant over lol.

I can't wait to receive my switch though :)

You are right, they are totally random! I'm looking forward to G Day tomorrow too! All I need now is my OSSC scan doubler, PSIO and I'm set!

you sure it was center negative?

Do not use an NES power supply. It is AC voltage not DC.

Yeah, there's some seriously under-educated users here, if we're talking about using NES adapters.... lol

Duh, of course it is. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense for it to have a rectifier...
Anyway. Thanks for pointing this out. Being silly.

If you're talking about the part where I was talking about using the NES adapter - ignore that.
Do you think 350mA@9V is enough?

Here it is, on my actual table. It's quite rare to get something that works totally flawlessly from the get go; I have my two MDs and my DC (via Toro) running through it currently and into my XRGB Mini.

It works like a dream (powered on my 10v 1.2 a (+)---C---(-) MD adapter).

Many thanks Superg, your time and effort is worth every penny. Also, please can we see a picture of your cat? I love cats!

OK great. I just got a Panasonic KX-TCA1 adapter off of eBay with those specs (center negative, 9V .35A). If you've got an old Panasonic cordless phone, there's a good chance you have one of these.
Will report back once it comes in to let you guys know if it works or not.

I know this is off-topic but any news on OSSC availability?

I was the one that brought up the bowing of the board due to the vga connector. Over time, stress on a PCB can cause cracked solder joints which is why I mentioned it. But I will trust you when say its not going to be an issue. I trimmed the top off of the vga connector on mine, just to be safe, before you posted this though.

But also again, thanks for the switch (this is my 3rd). :)

I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be rude, but I have to ask: Why are you scrutinizing over a power supply? I provided links to tested power supplies that are around $10 and guaranteed to work. I can't understand why you'd bother risking damaging your switch to save a few dollars, when you already spent over $200. Am I missing something?

...I totally missed that. Not trying to be cheap. I had budgetted up to $20 for the PSU.

ED: I just checked your site. The only mention of PSUs I could find was:
"Requires Genesis 1-style AC power (Standard 2.1 DC jack, 7-12V, center is negative). Links on the right -->"
But there are no links on the right; none that I could find anyway. Where is this list of yours?

That links to the last pages of the OSSC thread, the third newslettter came in and things are progressing quite nicely. I'm on the second list. The good thing is how the unit looks like the GSCARTSw aesthetically, so they'll make for a cohesive setup next to the DC Toro box too.

The link on the right points to this one, which is the same as the link I've posted a few times in this thread, but from eBay, so it ships worldwide: http://www.amazon.com/Tomee-Genesis-1-AC-Adapter-Sega/dp/B00DEORYZ8
