There are plans to reduce the price because I'm unhappy about it. I already have some ideas for that, however it's unlikely that I'll make the version with less inputs. For instance 4:1 version will not be dramatically cheaper as same amount of more expensive components are gonna be used. Yes, I'll save a bit on SCART sockets, PCB area and plexiglass but overall the most is spend on a switching logic, the output circuit, etc.

This is great, I am so excited. But would this male-to-male cable issue imply that you can't use a JP21 to Mini-DIN from the switch to an upscaler, like the one that comes with the Framemeister?

If you'll solder the cable yourself - the issue is fixed. Or if somebody will make it for you. I have the schematics right here.

Got it -- I looked through the schematics and I think I can handle the soldering myself. Looks like I'm going to have to source a sacrificial male-to-male from the UK and rewire it. Thanks!

I am definitely interested in the JP-21 version and I will be able to make my own male to male cable. Was there a specific way I would have to go about ordering one from you?

I think I'll have enough units for early adopters - will post here with instructions how to buy.

Okay, fantastic! I'm definitely down for being a guinea pig. LOL. I appreciate the very fast response as well. I've been lurking this thread for about a year and a half now hoping that a JP21 version would be available at some point..

I'm probably going to be refreshing this page constantly all next week. I've waited almost 2 years for JP21 and I will be pretty upset if I miss my window, lol.

So I finally am home and able to hook these babies up, I have a total of 13 things to put on it.. I tested each system and for the most part haven't noticed any issues, but I have noticed one. I have an intellivision 2 system with RGB mods and when plugged in via the switch, the sound is extremely dim to the point even maxing out the volume makes it barely audible, but when I plug it directly into the framemeister it works fine. Being that I rarely use this system it's not exactly a deal breaker to just hook it in directly when I so desire, but I figured I would mention it and maybe ask if there is a plausible solution?

I finally had time to set mine up, but I'm getting an audio buzz. The switch is connected to a Framemeister, I'm using a genuine Genesis power power supply with the switch, and all of the SCART cables I'm using are from Retro Console Accessories via eBay. I don't get the buzz if I connect the consoles directly to the Framemeister, only when the consoles are connected through the switch. I ordered a "pro" version of a SCART to SCART cable from Retro Console Accessories today, hoping the extra shielding will take care of the buzz. Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to remove the buzz noise?

You're the first one having audio issues, however mods are officially unsupported, too many things to cover. Unamplified audio maybe?

You hear buzz because video signal is affecting audio. Either get a better SCART cable or run audio through separate cable.

What kind of power supply are you using? You could try a different one (if you are not using one of the recommended ones) and see if it helps. Some cheap power supplies can introduce noise into audio or video.

mickris is right, it's worth checking that too.

I've finished soldering of all JP21 switch units. Power supplies has been ordered.
I'd say JP21 units should be available to buy in a week, I'll post the details later.

I'm using a genuine Sega-made Genesis power supply. I also tried a 2nd genuine Sega Genesis power supply, and I still hear a buzz. I ordered a better shielded SCART to SCART cable and should receive it late this week. Hopefully that will resolve the issue.

Could I get away with the JP-21 GSCARTSW if i'm connecting the following console to a UK Sony PVM?

Master System MK2 PAL (RGB modded)
    Mega Drive MK1 PAL
    AES NTSC-U
    3DO NTSC-U
    NES PAL
    Dreamcast PAL
    Saturn MK2 NTSC-J

I did some reading on the JP-21 standard and it seems It should be okay right? I'm not using an upscaler of any kind...

Should work but as always, "modded systems are unsupported" :)
