Guys, as I'm in the middle of figuring out JP21, I'll need some assistance from you.
I need to know whether JP21 male to male cables are available to buy somewhere and if they even exist because I can't find it.
From what I see according to JP21 pinout (http://www.gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=av:japanese_rgb-21) direct male to male JP21 cable should swap pairs 1-2 (audio left), 5-6 (audio right) and 9-10 (cvbs). SCART swaps 1-2 (audio right), 3-6 (audio left) and 19-20 (cvbs) thus it's incompatible.
I want to use same 21-pin output for both versions of the switch and I don't want to source the cables.

 

Had anyone tried these cables with the switch?

The European version specifically. I have no reason to doubt it would. Just looking for confirmation.

 

I have never seen a male to male jp21 cable. If I needed one, I'd have to buy a m2m scart cable and slap 2 jp21 adapters on each end. Have you thought about asking retrogamingcables or retro_console_accessories on ebay about having them made? I can't imagine it'd be too difficult. As a jp21 gscartw buyer, I'd have no problem buying a new cable from someone else to use your switch.

 

I second the idea of talking to retro_console_accessories on ebay. They are an awesome seller and everything is hand made already. I've seen them post a male to male SCART cable in the past, so chances are they'd have no problems doing the jp21 pin outs.

 

The thing is that it will not work. As I've stated there are 3 pin pairs swapped and they are different from European SCART.

It's not about making cables, it's all about supporting some standard. If they are available and used at least in Japanese market then I'm fine if not I'll need to find some solution for this. I see that JP21 has same concept of swapped audio and CVBS pins between input and output but nobody on the west sells them.

 

I use a few from there, they are fine.

 

Just wanted to give you huge props for getting your project to this stage dude. Good work.

My manual switch is still in development hell. Life just got in the way, sadly.

 

I keep checking my PMs in anticipation of this bad boy. I cleared off a place in front of my rig so I can properly set up and show off this sexy beast to all my retro buddies. I know this kind of work can be frustrating and often thankless so let me say that I find it outstanding that you are always looking into ways to improve and innovate on an already great product. I own Male to Male JP21 cables, I'm happy to send them to you for evaluation. I obtained them with a JP21 switch I already own. I suspect they are home made but perhaps it's a good starting point.

What JP21 switch are you using?

 

It's a home-made switch I purchased from a vendor in Japan. I think they were made in a small quantity by hand. It's also how I got the Male to Male cables (they were included).
