gscartsw: automatic 8:1 SCART-RGB switch

Unboxed and installed my switch today, and I have to say I'm extremely pleased. I don't know if it's just better conductor quality or the built in video amp, but everything looks great through this switch.

One small issue I've noticed though, is that I'll occasionally get a burst of high-pitched noise when I turn a source on or off. It doesn't happen with every source, and it doesn't always happen with the same ones.

Is this normal, or is it something to be concerned about?

This is perfectly fine, there is lowpass filter which has capacitors, that's why you hear some random sound while they discharge.

 

Got my v3.4 switch in, to go alongside my v3.2 switch! Thanks, as always.

Had a question about the polarity change -- was hoping to use a single AC adapter with splitter to power both, but that's obviously complicated by the two different plugs needed on the gscartsw side. Question is: Is there such a thing as a polarity adapter so I can convert the center positive plug to center negative to support the older v3.2 switch? Or am I better off just running them off separate power adapters?

 

Dear god separate. So many potential issues. You don't even want to think about it. Just go with a setup like:

Then creatively hide your excess adapter cables or just neatly loop it if you are worried about cable management (or get shorter ones of decent quality to eliminate the possibility of power contamination noise)

 

In Japan and just received my SCART switch and it works perfect! Thanks so much! I was worried something was wrong with shipping because the tracking # info never updated, but it arrived just as I finish rearranging my setup.

I was pleasantly suprised to receive my switch this morning!

Better yet with no import fees!

I've connected it up with a new PVM to male start cable and every single console looks brilliant on my PVM.

Very very please, and what's more I have it connected to my amp and a pair of Jamo D 365 speakers and all games sound amazing too!

You can still use one power supply to feed both. Be very careful with what you are doing though.
You can use new power supply, 1:2 DC splitter and one polarity changer.

I recommend using newer power supply powering both switches (the one which is positive), you'll have to use it with DC splitter and connect polarity changer to your older v3.2 switch. Yes, it's kinda Frankenstein but it'll work just fine.
I had to change the polarity because of all the power issues a lot of people have experienced.
