Can anyone answer this about GTA London Special Edition for PS1? This game is at a local game store (here in America). It's in a funny shaped double size CD case. I know that this is just a standalone version of GTA:London. However it says PAL on it and had the European rating system. I'm wondering if anyone knew if it was actually a PAL game, or if they were just designing it like that so it had more of a "London" feel to it. If it's actually imported, I'll go buy it. If it's just done to be gimmicky, I'll leave it be. I suppose the easiest way to know is if anyone else has this version and can play it on their NTSC PS1.
I'd prefer not to buy it if it's just gimmicky and lame. I already have the original GTA London that came with the first GTA, I just thought I could save myself some import costs if it actually were a PAL region game.
lol i have that game, not that rare back in the day's here in holland, i bough it at a toy store axact same edition, like it say's stand-alone, you dont need gta1 to play it
if anyone is interested i can upload some pics, realy cool game by the way played it alot (disc is totaly messed up but still play's)
It's funny because I can't really find anything on Wikipedia on it, just that it's a standalone game. It doesn't mention the regions it was sold in. But I also can't find NTSC versions of it. And its pretty frequent on ebay.co.uk so I'm gonna assume it's probably actually a PAL game and go snatch it up.
Looks just like the the PAL version of this: http://www.game-rave.com/psx/playstation_perfect_guide/releasedgames/grand_theft_london/ If you PS1 is not modded, it won't play. And even then, it might run in black and white.
Uhh, what? They can't put PAL on it just to be ironic, it's an information panel. It *IS* PAL. So no, it won't work on an unmodified NTSC console. Just like you don't put GB on a car that's not British or an 18 certificate (or R rated) on a Disney cartoon. I'm not sure what's so funny about the case, either - it came in a normal European PlayStation case. Maybe that's another giveaway as to its authenticity
It was clearly a question of authenticity to make sure. Being an American citizen I can confirm that companies like to do stupid shit like that around here. Even if it's fake they like to make it look as real as possible. I think maybe he was asking more if it was a fake that were a dime a dozen or if it were a genuine PAL game.
