Here's the deal: I've played GTA for more than 150hrs according to my savestate, and it's a fantastic game. I love it more than anything else that came out in the past 10+ years. Today, I tried to play it online for roughly the third or fourth time, and very much opposite to my singleplayer experience, I really hate the online mode. This is what bothers me every time: - I have no money and you earn ridiculously low amounts ($2000-$8000 per deathmatch/shop robbery/race) I don't even own a single garage or other property yet. My total money is around $35,000 and the cheapest garage I found was $34,000. How in the world are you supposed to afford the fancy stuff in GTA Online? I played for 2 hours today, actively looking for missions and selling cars to the Customs shop, and I merely increased my "wealth" to $70,000. WTF. If this means that in order to afford my first apartment and a nicer car, I have to do tedious jobs every evening for hours for a month, then "no thanks". I already have a life in which I have to work hard to buy nice stuff, I don't need GTA for that. - It's Mad Max out there! Everyone behaves like a dick Another thing that bothers me is that 4 out of 5 other players I encounter will just shoot me on sight, or even from distance. It pisses me off. I can't afford any nice guns yet, I just want to be part of the online world and race with people and stuff. Why is every game I join a post-apocalyptic world of jackasses? Whenever I try to rob a store, there's some jackass other person who dashes to my location and kills me right when I exit the fucking store so they can take my money. Also, the police is WAY more aggressive than in singleplayer. I once just stopped by an ongoing battle of another player with the police, not doing anything at all. All of a sudden I had 2 stars and everyone shot me. I went from "just derping in the car, watching" to "shot dead 29 times" literally within a few seconds. - I can't find stuff to do / missions don't load There are five billion symbols on the map for TDM, races, missions, heists... and every single freaking one of them is empty. I get invitations for jobs, and I kid you not when I say that 9/10 times it'll say "Cannot connect" - my Internet is fine though, I play all other games lag-free with great connectivity. - Actual online matches... kind of just sucked?! Tonight I managed to actually join one Team Deathmatch and one race. The TDM round had a whopping 3 other people in it, but one of the opponents quit after a minute or so. We then spent the remaining 4 minutes running around an empty Tennis court and shooting the one poor opponent. I think it was the most boring Team Deathmatch game of my entire life. The race... well, nobody even attempted to drive seriously. Everyone just accelerated into the person in front of them when they braked to make it through the next corner. Like playing with a bunch of turds who do not understand the concept of car race. Also it was the only race I could join throughout the entire evening. I am really pissed at this game. It freaking sucks. Yet, there are millions out there who love it... so, here's my question (and I'm serious) - Am I doing it wrong??
Everyone kills you - Go passive mode. Money - Heists Races, well barely anyone knows how to take a corner. I usually race non-contact when I played. Mounting curbs gives you acceleration for some reason too. Don't expect realistic races.
Sadly rockstar are turning into activision but hey you can get heaps of money if you pay them real money!
Ah, they'll never be that bad. Activision holds a special place in my heart for how much distaste I have towards what they've done over the recent years. Races were always silly when I played the 360 version online. You need to find a good core crew and just play with them. The frustrating part is weeding out the good users you'd want to play with on a regular basis.
Which version were you playing anyway ? The 7th gen, the current gen or the PC ? The community is a little bit different on each platform.
I can only play on the 360 currently, but I'm planning to switch to the PC version in the very distant future. Will give the heists a go. The loading times and lame deathmatches are really offputting, but I can't blame GTA for the quality of the race drivers. When I played Forza Horizon it was all the same - people crashing into you and being rewarded for it.
Well 360 version is hacked to fuck. Don't even expect it to be worth your while. PC version is the same, a lot of menu users. Probably best to stick with current gen at the moment. You don't get rewarded for smashing into other players on FH, you lose your XP by doing that.
Just finished my first two heists and the game is a little more fun now. Still, connectivity problem all over the place and quite hard to find any races going on. The lack of skill among the majority of players is mind blowing, especially when driving... jesus fucking Christ, races are either boring or annoying as hell. How hard is it to break before a corner??? Also by the way - how come there are no villas for sale? There are so many great mansions in San Andreas and I can't buy any of them, seriously? What's up with the 20+ completely identical $500,000 condos instead of just 1 simple $3 million villa? lol.
I got the 360 version whenever it first came out, so I too am waiting a while until the PC version goes down in price. Although I did spend a decent amount of time on the 360 version, I should have had the foresight to know there'd be a PC release eventually that would be better.
I cannot afford another platform right now. Ideally I would buy the PC version for Oculus Rift / Hive, but that's way out of my price range. I also do not want to finish the game another time for singleplayer fun (I've already finished it twice on 360), so I am planning on just downloading a savestate... which doesn't work on Xbox One, I think. Why exactly is the 360 version not good to play? I don't see people cheating around much, it just bothers me that the connectivity is so bad. Also, people leave the heists in the middle of the game a lot or during preparation. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes to get almost through it, then someone leaves, the game loads for at least another 1-2 minutes, and I'm back outside in front of the damn apartment. Tons of fun >_>
I modded my rank to be 1337 and gave my self 3.4 billion dollars. THats doing it right. All I can say is unem dom.
I've been playing GTAV quite a lot, on previous gen and current gen. Here's the run down... Previous gen is FULL of modders. You may think you're not seeing people cheating, but if they have a lot of cash and you're playing by the rules. They will be miles ahead of you, and you can basically forget racing if catchup is on. PC is also full of modders, so many infact I've had been given A LOT of money by them. Not that I complain about that, but then it started becoming pretty bad. Modders would always blow my car up on races, pop my tires or basically hold me in place so I couldn't move. Freemode was even worse, I couldn't do anything without being thrown around and killed by nothing. Apparently lately it got worse with modders removing your cars from your garages and removing weapons. The way R* works with banning modders is by reports, they don't really have a proper anti-cheat system. As modders can by pass the inbuilt anti-cheat. The hassle is, if some modder has made you invincible, or modded your car to look hacked and someone reports you. You get banned for basically doing nothing wrong and being a victim. I stopped playing because R* couldn't keep up with the modding that was going on. They were basically going after cash spawners and not those who were constantly disrupting other players. Even like adding trees in the middle of roads and teleporting to you or hidden crates. Which is why I say "if you have friend to play with, then the game is good" playing with strangers is a drag and many players are thick skulled to not know how to follow mission instructions. A really good game with a group of friends or a clan you're in, otherwise stick to single player.
Yes, the PC version has really become much different than at release. The most fair way to play GTA V online would be on one of the 8th gen consoles, but the most fun would probably be on PC.
Whilst there isn't any active hacking , there still a few with hacked accounts on Xbox one. Though I have few accounts I have built and transferred from my cfw PS3.
