Awesome. I wonder though, does anybody think the games will be actual ports or straight up emulation? If it's emulation, how come sega goes out of it's way to make an emu for these games and doesn't then go use that emu to release other arcade games on PSN/XBLA. God I'd galdy rebuy soooo many old sega arcade games. Also next collection, Virtua Cop 1-3 (I kind of liked 3 in the arcades).
Whoever told you someone fucked with a real MP5 SMG to fix a Wiimote to it is lieing or the person that did it is seriously fucked up in the head. A deadly weapon is not a toy, and you wouldn't fuck around with it like that, it's expensive where as the Wii is a cheap toy. I never played either of these games, but I'm sure its a nice addition to the Wii library.
it's pretty cool, some events you have to properly time hitting a button. uses the same modified UMP7 used for Ghost Squad. http://www.amazon.com/Wii-Sniper-Ri..._1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1272571748&sr=8-1 I'm looking into picking a few of these up. Does anyone know if lightgun games work on DLP Tv? not the LCD based ones, the older ones.
I just checked Sega's website and we have to wait all the way until the FALL for this.....why? All it is is a straight port from the arcade. They aren't even upgrading the sprites. Come on Sega....this is embarrassing now.
Even a straight port needs some additional menu stuff on the front end, and it's my understanding that there are additional game modes in the home release. Neither game has had a console version before, so I'm happy to wait it out. I'm even happier that I don't have to buy dedicated hardware to go with the game.
It has to be more than a port. They are probably adding in extras. You know how bad an emulation of a standard resolution game would look? The real tell is the price point. Under 2900 yen ? It's gonna be basic.
I hope so. By now developers should have learned their lesson that arcade games need added content before being ported on to a gaming console. It works in the arcade but now at home.
At the very least the game gets some texture swaps, like the adds on the buildings. I can't remember Sonic and the Black Knight being released in the 90s ;-) Picture: http://bit.ly/cfdxU9
Sure Virtua Cop 1-3 would be cool, I'd like also House of the Dead Ex + HOTD4. Sega should think about an arcade racing game compilation :daytona1+2,sega rally 1+2,sega touringcar+scudrace
Hehehe. The car wheels are made from single sided quads. As a result of back face culling, the opposite side of the car's tires are missing. =P
Those wishing for a Wii port of Virtua Cop 3 nearly had their dream come true a while back, or at least it was in development until AM2 favoured a conversion of Ghost Squad instead. Also, if there was ever a racing package we could finally have a realisation of the Drivers Megamix rumour C&VG magazine started years ago? I'd definitely be up for such a thing just to play arcade perfect treatments of Daytona USA (or Sega Racing Classic as it would probably be known today due to licensing issues), Indy 500, Sega Touring Car, Scud Race and Battle On The Edge. I too would kill for VF3 in particular... but you probably already guessed that!
Hasn't it already been confirmed that the source code for The House Of The Dead (as in the Model 2 original - not the far inferior later Saturn conversion!) is long gone, along with Panzer Dragoon Saga's to name just one similar casualty? Sega could always port over the PC code, but I believe they had the option to do this with the previous "Returns" package on the Wii and chose against such a move because it was felt the initial conversion quality didn't hold up compared with its successors. Of course, they would later do the same for Panzer Dragoon and NiGHTS on the PS2, although the option to have slightly updated visuals was also included. In my opinion, the absence of the first HOTD on Wii so far is simply one big cop-out... and who else agrees the same could also be said for the Virtua Cop series?
Elsemi Model2 emu + GlovePIE = <3 It's sadly amusing how Naomi got emulated whilst Model 3 is still in its infancy.
very different design principles. The DC was the first "modern" console in terms of (mostly) standardized graphics abilities. The PS/Saturn/N64 each had their own approach at what 3D should include but the dev tools were a nightmare compared to what coders get today. No idea about the latest Wii SDK - the GC one was kinda simplistic compared to the likes of XNA etc.
Can't wait for Gunblade NY, it's been a good five years since I've had the chance to play it. La Machineguns looks quite promising which i've never had the pleasure of playing in an actualy arcade.
