I am in talks with a guy who has a Tomb Raider Design Document for a cancelled Tomb Raider game that was in development by Core Design for the Gameboy Advance.
Apparently the game was rejected by Edios. It was a GBA sequel to the PS2 TR game Tomb Raider: Angel Of Darkness. Not sure if I believe him yet but he says he will let me read it, and he lives near me. What should I do?

He says he worked for Core Design, even showed me some pretty convincing evidence of it. So I guess its possible its real.
He said that even though Edios handed the series development to another developer, Core wanted to finish the Angel Of Darkness storyline so they developed a GBA tech demo, and prepared a design document, presented it to Edios, and they rejected it.

If I end up seeing it I will definitely try to get some scans... or at very least when he is not looking sneak some cell phone pics of pages. Hehe.

Update: It is very real. I got to check it out a bit ago, and it is signed and dated by Toby Gard as being "Quality". The sig is real and the documents are old. Dated September 3rd, 2004.
Has 392 pages, all with concept art, plot lines, and more.

The game is titled Tomb Raider Nephili.
I have no idea what the title means, but it sounds fancy. :D
Seems core put a lot of work into this document and concept for it to just be turned down.

He says that he will allow me to share pieces of the design doc, but due to legal issues I cannot upload anything from most of it, which is a tad bit unfortunate.

I did skim through some of the drafting and it appears as though the game takes place right after AOD, and also ties in the events of the 2002 GBA Tomb Raider game, The Prophecy, which would explain why Tomb Raider The Prophecy uses the same lara croft render art and logo font as Tomb Raider Angel Of Darkness.

Tomb Raider Nephili stars both Lara Croft and Kurtis Trent. Cut scenes were to be pre rendered static images, but voiced, with Jonell Elliot in mind for Lara.
I also found in the document that if the game was successful, Core planned to develop the GBA game into a full sized console game using the Angel of darkness engine.

Many of the things seem like they were extremely optimistic. Its a shame it was rejected.

    What his name?

I have met four Core Design developers in the past at derby and press conference in many years later. Sound familiar, one developer leak one or two things about Tomb Raider Anniversary PSP version (cancelled) back in wales in three years ago. Might be the same person.

Tomb Raider Nephili? cool... sound interesting. Hope I can hear more about this.

His name would be best kept private. Message me if you want to know it. Id rather not get his name out, because if this was to get whiffed by Square Enix I am sure they would probably go after him, even though its an old cancelled game. That's just how that company is.

Toby Gard wasn't working on Tomb Raider in 2004, he came back in 2006 for Tomb Raider: Legend.

Do you have any pictures? Like the front cover or just something proving this?

True, but then again this was a concept. He may have still been involved.

Let be patience for once. Give some time for one of developers to think and CR1181995. Hopefully I will see it eventually or otherwise don't get your hopes up.

This can be closed. Thanks to a certain someone, that I will not name here (But posted in this thread), the guy was scared away from allowing any material to release.
    Shame.

Well I can at least say what I do know:
It was a sequel to both Tomb Raider Angel Of Darkness and Tomb Raider The Prophecy for GBA, and both Kurtis and Lara were intended to be playable.
TWO tech demo's were created. One with graphics similar to The Prophecy and a later one with more unique graphics. (The demo screenshots are in the design document, on pages 213-218)

I won't say anything more. Hopefully this pops back up again, and for future reference: People should keep their big mouths shut or risk ruining it for everyone!

You entirely misunderstand it. I was referring to the fact that I started chatting up this "To not be named" guy on this forum, and the guy with the doc said it was okay to let him contact him. Well, thanks to that certain someone who blabbed a whole bunch of things about "Legality" and such, he is afraid to proceed.
Essentially, the guy told the design doc guy that if he released anything else, he would personally see to it that Square Enix finds out and gets their legal department on his case. Yes, very unlikely that would happen, but he does not want to take any chances.

But surely it's your fault in the first place for telling people the name of the guy with the design document, when you could of kept his name anonymous?
