Its not so much the location of the bombs, its the terrible collision detection that causes you to get hurt by that seaweed crap, even though your easily like 10 pixels at least away from it!
TMNT is best played as a beat em up the NES game is proof of that. I could never get that far in Bayou Billy/Mad City and that always pissed me off. Great game that was WAY ahead of it's time.
- SNES : Secret Of Mana last boss - NES : Ninja Gaiden 1 : very hard... very good ending - GEN : Thunderforce IV : explode, fuc.. bullet ! explode fuc.. wall ! - SNES : R-Type : who here has complete this game in master mode and saw the true ending ? WHO ? - Solomon Key : direct in trash ! - F-Zero GX : story mode, hard... :crying: - Tecmo World Wrestling : last boss
I always despised Gutsman's stage with those platforms that dump you off them. Your accuracy has to be perfect, or it won't let you jump at all. Also, the birds that knock you into pits in Ninja Gaiden. It seems that most of the time when there's a flying enemy in a platforming game, it's probably the biggest pain in the ass in the entire game.
The SNES version have a reasonable difficulty level...until you reach the racing stage which is impossible to clear no matter how many times you try. Believe, it's much easier to clear Contra 3 at hard mode (I almost did it, at least, since I cleared it at normal mode) than clear the racing stage at Battle Toads. Man, I hate this game!
you mean killed one of your turtles? use Raph and then Mike to beat that level. They have useless range as actual sidescrolling. All you need in the side scrolling parts use donatello, hold forward+Up it has forward, up, and down attacks on the hit boxes. the damn is REALLY easy to beat, look up the map of the bombs on gamefaqs, learn them, and you'll be laughing at everyone else that cringes at the dam level...
Its not the bombs I had trouble with, it was the horrible collision detection on the edges of the reef thing that would hurt you...as has been stated earlier in this thread.
You're over exaggerating. It's not collision detection, the seaweed is really close, your sprite is hitting it. But you only have to touch the seaweed at the end, not even enough to kill a turtle if you don't ride the bottom of the rocks. There's one part that most people keep going through sea weed - but you can go back down http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UO0aSjjBQgI
Hmm. I love this comment: "Ok, but then your totally fucked for the next level." I just had trouble with this part when I was younger. Is that really so hard for you to understand? You are starting to sound more annoying than Godofhardcore.
You just said when you were younger, of course it was harder when you were younger - most games were. -_-' What I'm saying is - if you go back and play it NOW, it's not half as bad as you remember. And the next level he's talking about is when you're in the city with the Party Van and have to go building to building sewer to sewer trying to figure it out. That part of the game is massive, impressive actually.
In The Incredible Crash Dummies on NES - the circus level had this part where you had to run and jump and bounce and make it up this impossible to do jump...while getting shot at. God it was a bitch...
I was actually one of the poor souls who owned Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde. It was that or Adventures in the Magic Kingdom or something like that.
That was a pretty big ( for its time ) level. I dont recall getting past the last level ever though. Could never get to Shredder. I think i may need to bust out the NES.
I used to play the crap out of Adventures in the Magic Kingdom when I was little. It's one of those NES games that - along with Bart vs. The World - I realized was actually pretty awful when I played it years later. Anyway, the platforming sections in AitMK definitely belong in this topic: the haunted house because of the really hard jumps you have to do with unresponsive controls, and the pirate section because you have a really strict time limit and practically no weapons for the entire level!
I totally agree, I played that game until my tiny kid fingers were red and raw with rage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpWmhxXf_pU&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fvideo.google.com%2Fvideosearch%3Fhl%3Den%26ie%3DUTF-8%26q%3Dadventures%2520in%2520the%2520magic%2520kingdom%26sa%3DN%26tab%3Dwv%26um%3D1&feature=player_embedded I still own the game and tried to play it recently, I have no idea how I made it so far when I was younger.
