Were there samples of this game given out i saw a picture of one on a ebay auction. is it possible to buy complete ready to be on retail shelves version of Half life and where could i find it?
No, do not buy the ones you see on eBay. Anything other than a development GD-R is the readily available download made to look like an authentic release and should be reported to eBay (there are a few sites that show you how). The game never made it past the development phase as far as we know. The only authentic retail item you can purchase is the Half Life strategy guide which appears on eBay from time to time. Someone here may be willing to send you a copy of the game for the price of a CD-R and postage if you're not able to download it.
That can be considered part of the development process. Manuals were never printed and discs were never pressed in retail quantities. Now, if a box of retail games turned up...
Heres the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160199904856&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=006 Is there a way to get a original or copy of that manual that was listed in the above thread?
Yep, not really the place to talk about CD-R copies I'm afraid. Still, if someone wants to help I'm sure they'll PM you. Yakumo
The gold master was, in fact, approved, but you are correct that no retail discs were printed. This is the version that was leaked all over the net. It was leaked by someone who was pissed that Oldergames was trying to cash in on his work. Official authentic manuals and tray cards *were* printed in anticipation of the game being released. I can't vouch for any of them on ebay, but I know there are real ones because they were handed out to everyone on the dev team. I still have my pair.
If he's referering to my thread above, it is the original manual. Pics aren't there anymore, but I have both the manual and tray card. :icon_bigg
