The person who has made the site shame of mame is a person who doesn´t have taste at all. Since I think TL has an ok mame machine yeah TheLamer I would rather call you TL, than use almost a curse on your nick
Whoa, some of them (like the 2 rotary desings) are way to horrid to be translated to words, but there are other that are kinda good, and the comment guy sure had a really bad time back in High, cuz he's just saying shit all the time. I would only make a mame cabinet if I get a used AthlonXP or 64 for very little money or free. About the desing, I'm not making one of those unconfortable 80s cabinets. A more ergonomic desing would be the best, something like the stand-up cabinet of crazy taxi:nod:
Lamer, I think you have your woodworking skills down, but theres but therest two things that I would change about it if you want to make it look more like a real machine. 1. A Laminate covering. The glossy black paint doesn't work for me. I don't know how easy it is to add laminate after the fact though. 2. You came so far, but didn't build your own controls...but I guess thats a personal preferance thing. The paint is the thing that gets me the most. Things look so much better with Laminate and that edge moulding. At the very least though, I'd go with a matte paint. Every painted (older) arcade game I've ever seen uses matte paints. It looks better that way, draws eyes to the game, not the shiny outside. If I didn't want to do a laminate on the side, I'd do a stencil. Go for the REALLY classic look.
Not bad lamer, although I would probably go for a more traditional controller panel. Wouldn't you get a little "off balance" playing it lik that?
Most really make a mess of the button layouts and use fucking tiny screens.and the outrun one is just tooo bizarre for words
