Best thing to do would be to dump it and then just post a MD5 of the image as well as a list of files. That'll be enough to know if it's just a retail image or not. You don't want to host a retail copy of a Microsoft game. Well, not unless you want some unpleasant letters from lawyers. Not to mention this forum can't sanction download links to a retail game. Doubly so when it is available for sale.
Though I haven't personally checked it out myself, an owner of the same disc stated there were differences in the main menu at least. Not sure if he attempted playing it through, though. PM coming your way, hl718.
I would love to check it out if it's not the same as retail... I'd say hl718 has pretty much said what would be the best way to do it....that being to generate a hash of the image for comparison as that will pretty much tell us whether or not there are any differences to retail.
Nothing special on my disc, from what I can tell. Other owner still insists his is different, but I've yet to see any proof.
I did not know of the Test disc, now I must have one! This WAS the only special HALO 1 disc I knew about. Debug I got it from Old Engineer in 2004. I, of course would be interested in the contents on the Test disc as well.
Indeed, and aside from fly cam and the generation of a cool log file, I don't know any differences from retail.
Hmm.... I have the 2276 xbe's ( as probably most everyone else does ) but I've never seen the maps from the release ( implying they are on the disc... )... are the maps different? has anyone checked the maps over? As I'd love to take a look into them if they are different from retail.
Someone hasnt played with the debugging functions then... http://ptoponline.com/?p=906 http://ptoponline.com/?p=917
Guys he is the one who released these files, I kindly asked him for them a while back and he gave them to me. Thing is alot of people already had them. But this indeed the source of that halo 1 debug.
