Completed it today and I guess I'm not the only person to feel ripped off.

I had hoped for something with twice as many levels as the original without the repetition and the flood (or atleast less flood) though what we got seemed pathetically small. Where the fuck did 3 years work go? Perhaps they spent 3 years half assed like lazy mofos or maybe they spent 2 of the years on holiday getting drunk or whatever and their last year sloppily wokring away but I do not feel like I got my money's worth.

I allways live by the ethos is you can do a game ina day it isn't worth bothing with - I did Halo 2 in a day pretty much .... ;o

On another point a game should end with what appears to be a conclusion to the story so it could be a standalone effort - it will push the team's creativity to the limits to work around the finale for the next story, but alas we get a half assed ending which pretty much means Halo 3 will HAVE to exist at some point or other ;o

The story was entertaining I suppose and it was nice to play as the arbitrator though we got to play with him too much - there just wasn't enough Master Chief action in there :smt022

With the single player out of the way and rememebring how much the original Halo multiplayer sucked I never went to multiplayer with any real high hopes. Good job my hopes wern't high as it's pretty similar to the original Halo's multiplayer which is nothing amazing. there are so many better multiplayer games out there and it just doesn't cut it. Unless anyone sends me an invite to play I don't think I will be too bothered with Halo 2 MP or SP again.

Amazon ain't too fussy on returns ... maybe I'll send it back?

I haven't completed it...would've been one of the first, but my friend took the Xbox with the save on it... :smt022

I'd say on consoles Halo MP is the best there is. On PCs is a completely different story though; there are many titles that trump it. I don't see myself becoming addicted to Halo 2 MP like I was to Age of Empires 2/Mythology.

The arbiter is a dumbass. His levels are the ones just like the original Halo: repetitive as hell.

I, too, wonder where all the time went...I thought I was on the 6th or seventh level, and I waas on the 14th! :smt022

Maybe problems with the texture mapping? Or the 'Boxes' memory? In any event, I think I enjoyed playing Max Payne 2 more. And May Payne 2 cost me $8. :smt009

Crap I meant to say "FPS." I love Worms. :-D :smt083

Counterstrike on Xbox is crap. I mean, the graphics, the gameplay, everything about it just plain sucks! Just my opinion, but the game blew chunks. :smt042 Lazy half assed port. :smt045

sorry but i've never said anything that could look like what you've quoted. i would apreciate more if you could take quotes that really exist, and not something made by you please.

as for Micro$oft , i wonder why it would ruin my entire argument and credibility by naming them as everyone do. Truth don't ruin anything. So, could you tell me why the name Micro$oft would ruin an option that i've throw on the thread that microsoft could have changed the plot to make a space for another halo? i don't say they won't do another halo, but they could.

and like the guy AWS quoted earlier said, it was suposed to be a full-scale invasion of the earth.... now, ''Earth isnt even being invaded. A few small covenant platoons go to earth for one reason or another and that's it. There isn't even a hint of earth being invaded in Halo 2 until the very end, then the game ends.''

so, the plot was changed , yes. but if it wasn't to make the way for a possible halo 3 , then why would they changed the Apocalyptic story? because they couldn't make it on the xbox hardware? absolutly not.

The story isn't finished , that you like it or not .the story was far more advanced before , the earth was suposed to be invaded at full-scale, wich isn't the case in the final product. you have a hint of the earth being inveded at the very end of halo 2, which make place to a next episode, if they whant to do it (and with the cash they made with the halo series, im sure they won't pass this option so easly, they will think about it. ) . While the ''Before'' was THE attack of earth, with a very apocalyptic and ''this-is-it, this-is-the final-batle , this-is-the-end-of the story'' feeling.

indeed, for a perfect exemple , watch zelda:eek:ot from its begining of the development 'till the final product. but, its the developers that change the game , developers can change everything, they can change scenarios like they can change their minds (ehh....Bungie: ''This is the final halo'' ??) , and the new scenario can make a way to another halo, unlike the old scenario and the old mind of bungie.

The story isn't finished and must end. and im pretty sure microsoft know this. And we all know Micro$oft loves easy cash, and they know halo is a big cow of cash, so im sure they will complete the story. that's how the market goes. :smt083

Well, I'd definately say that Halo 2 is a little bit rushed. Case in point the textures etc. I think it may be due to something being trashed or "saved," if you know what I mean. And the Xbox Live play is a bit laggy as well. Methinks that "the focus" may have been changed.

Another Halo? I mean, that just sounds sketchy. I think MS might've told Bungie to play it safe and give fans more of the same. Bungie is an excellent developer, but I have to wonder where the second Halo business came from. And, on the Halo planet, some of the parts are pulled right out of the original Halo! I'm not even joking! It seems there was something going on internally. Sure, games change a lot, almost all do, but Halo 2 seems a little different. It was slated for release last year...hmm? ;-)

exact. plus, microsoft could have told bungie to play it safe and make the story less definitive in case of the need another halo. in the console war , you need to make b plans, in war , there's no rules! :smt033

    this isn't impossible at all.

  8. I hardly think all of this revolves entirely around just a few posted screenshots that didn't appear in-game, or anything like that. We're talking about an entire plotline that was quietly phased out in favor of something far more watered-down. We're talking about cinematics completely axed from the game - not ones that didn't have space, etc., but cinematics directly tying into the cut storyline. If you can dig up the E3 video or even the trailer for the game, released this summer (it's over on IGN) you'll see that even as late as July they were still going with the whole "Earth invasion" storyline. To quote the trailer, "The most lethal force in the universe has destroyed everything in its path. On November 9th, what's in its path is us." That really doesn't work with the final product, especially as the the trailer highlights, again, the invasion of Earth by the Covenant.

Paulo: In that screenshot I posted, both of the things the Master Chief is holding were from in-game - on the left is the plasma grenade ("kindof like a fuzzy blue spider") and on the right is the SMG.
And I know prerelease screens are often not to be found in the final version, however, for something used as often in promotional/advertising material as that screen, I find it odd that its cinematic (see the letterbox lines?) and even the level (I don't remember a level like that) were cut from the game straight out.

game development usually involves a certain amount of scaling down to get things out on time. So what? Halo 2 is a great multiplayer game and an enjoyable 1 player game.

Its just the rantings of someone who got carried away with the hype and when they played the game it didnt live up to their unrealistic expectations.

you can level this argument at loads of games, Why not moan about Shenmue? and the evil plan SEGA and AM2 hatched to cut loads of scenes from the preview videos and to package them in the sequel.. pure hatefull evil.. how could they etc.. ;-)

I, per$onally think Micro$oft wanted Bungie to make a trilogy of the $erie$. It$ good for the great con$ole war$ in the long run on Xbox'$ Point of view. Why do you think the graphic$ and cinematic$ were fugly a$ hell? It wa$ obviou$ly a la$t-minute change thank$ to Micro$oft, but I cant blame them. They are a bu$ine$$ and bu$ine$$e$ want to make a$ much money as po$$ible.

Halo 3, which $hould come out thank$ to the cliffhanger ending, might have the old cinematic$ in it and hopefully the "Earth is being taken over storyline."

Perhap$ the New Momba$a level will return a$ well.
Being a trilogy wont be $o bad...a lot of game$ have been doing it lately.

If you havent already figured it out, it$ all about money, though...

After reading everyone's responses, and after reviewing them, I guess it is my turn to let everyone know what I think. After all, I did create this thread. Keep in mind now that this is all speculation, and we may never know the truth.

Here is what I think. Bungie was making the game all XBOX owners were looking forward to, and no it is not the Halo 2 that we got. They were making the game that involved the full scale invasion of earth, and MC and crew trying to stop it. However, somewhere along the way Microsoft decided they didn't want Halo to end on the XBOX. They needed an exclusive game for their next gen system that would make it sell, and after seeing what Halo did for the first XBOX, why not have a Halo title for their next system? Because seriously, without Halo XBOX would not even have been a contender. So, Microsoft has Bungie chop up the game, making Halo 2 an XBOX game, and Halo 3 a launch title for their next gen system. It makes perfect sense to Microsoft, but of course... the gamers get shafted.

if they bring out Halo 3 in 1080i visual with DTS plus integrated LIVE I won't mind to get Xbox 2... :D Oh and LE Halo 3 wireless gun pad with built-in motion sense won't hurt either... :p

M$ plz remove the stupid region lock out. that concept is old and impractical anyway...
or that I will get Xbox 2 modified as usual... :p

    cheers

MS did remove region locking out on their console. They left it up to game publishers to determine whether they wished to lock the region.

It makes sense to lock the region, because of markets and profits.

I bet they wouldnt want to end the series on their new system either...we might get another 5 mission game that is "split" to decieve us into thinking it was 15 missions. :angry

Yeah--that's a pisser! As I said elsewhere, I thought I was on the 6th or 7th level (and they were really long levels, I was thinking) and I was on the 14th! This was good though, because I was losing interest in 1p as it was becoming shitty. New halo my ass. What a lame cop out to reuse part of Halo 1.
