wow, well, i don't think telling you about all the things you can do in multiplayer will change your opinion. it sounds like you hated the game. i was going to make an uber list of variants and things. Henners just scratched the surface of how you can change maps. There's still gametypes that can be modified as well. but this is all in multiplayer. this is what's going to keep people playing a few years from now. did you play any multiplayer with any of your friends?

Goldeneye? Really? I can understand having fun back then, but now? Honestly? I just can't get over the framerate. It's awful. It was fine for 96 or 97 or whatever but not for 10 years later, not for an FPS. But to each his own.

Yes I did play with my friends. It was them who insisted I get the game and play it with them. While it is fun to play stuff with your friends, the game just barely works in my opinion. It feels like a really bad rip off of Unreal Tournament (1999). You just constantly respawn and wander around hoping to get some kills before out of no where someone else comes along and kills you or whatever.

I prefer Gears of War, because atleast it makes sense... 2 teams start opposite each other, and when you die.... you're dead. Who would have thought this concept was so hard? While Gears of War has it's problems, primarily with the host advantage/lag disadvantage, you have to deal with lag in any online game.

I definitely agree Goldeneye was far more fun than Halo 3. Honestly if I had 3 friends over here I'd rather we played split screen Goldeneye or Perfect Dark 64 with horrible frame rates than Halo 3.

All I know is at any time I can hop onto Gears of War and the majority of the time get a decent match and have fun. Even more fun when I play with a team of friends. On Halo 3, 90% of the time no one really talks, probably because there is no reason to do so. It's just a retarded frag fest or at most there might be an objective where you might care to talk to team mates.

Really, just the core of gameplay in Halo 3 sucks. It's way dated, unbalanced, chaotic, repetitive, and stupid. Infact probably the 2 reasons the game does so well is that, A. it has a cool space marine, and B. you're never fucking dead. No matter how bad you are, you always can pop back in within seconds. And then it's chaotically stupid so anyone is guarenteed to get some kills.

I played around with it a decent amount really, and I can't see myself playing it for long. It was definitely worth the rent to see how much I don't need it.

In free for all I guess, but not really in CTF and stuff. I don't think it plays much like UT either. I think Halo plays like Halo.

I miss PD and 007, but the framerates do kill me now. But back then....man that was fun.

Halo doesn't play ANYTHING like UT. UT is much more fast and has instant respawns. Halo your respawns are timed, youCAN set lives per round.

You know what. I'm just not even going to defend it. Go ahead and miss out on one of the best games of our generation.

go back to playing your pretty gears of war.

    It's so shiney.

Haha. I never said it was UT, UT is better for one. Halo is most certainly NOT one of the best games of this generation. It is horribly overrated and average. I don't just hate it cause so many people think it's perfect, I hate it cause it really does suck. But the over hyping certainly makes it impossible to live up to what everyone says.

But yeah, I guess some people won't like Halo, but me, I think that's this generations 007.

    hmmm... this generations 007... interesting...

i wonder if in 10 years Halo 3 will be unplayable because of an awful frame rate... i can't imagine it would be but who knows. only time will tell.

I dunno. Maybe it'll be archais later.

For me, my 8-16 bit 007 (multiplayer friends game) was TMNT and beat em ups like that.

N64 it was 007 and PD.

    Xbox it was Halo 1.

Now it's Halo 3, although I wish I could get more people to play Gears and some other stuff too, but Halo is a blast for LAN's, hands down. I think I like those more then PC lans, but I still love some UT, quake, doom, and Duke Nukem.

Yeah, Gears is an amazing game. I don't think I got into the multiplayer as much because no else I knew had it. And when I played it, it was on my Xbox. I've never been to a Gears lan before...

I never even heard of people playing Gears at LANs. I was really dissappointed with Gears, I was hoping for something else...

If you can round up enough people to play, it can be a blast. I also used to play it a lot with 3 other dudes against random people on live, it can be a lot of fun. Xbox live's non-host weapon lag can suck though.

well yeah a lot of people played Gears on Live but i didn't think anyone actually gathered up for LANs. There's not enough game play variations.

You can also edit maps, correct?

It's good for when people want to take a break from Halo, but yeah, it really lacks variation.

You don't think you can edit the maps physically, is that right? Like add rooms, etc. I haven't messed with forge a whole ton.

you can add stuff, like crates, weapons, explosive cores, vehicles, and more. But you can't like, edit an actual map. You can essentionally make map varients.
