So I heard a rumor that there was a version of Halo CE being released for DS in the Goldeneye Rougue Agent engine, but it was never released. Any info on it?
I found several broken links to it's supposed download (friggin' megaupload). I'm just assuming it doesn't exist, then?
It doesn't exist. And even if someone had a prototype cart, it would still be a pitch project at best (if it wasn't just an internal demo to show off the engine) and not an entire game, nor licensed by Microsoft.
To be fair, a modification of the DS Goldeneye was actually done using Halo assets, likely by the development studio. GTA4 PS2? Not so likely.
I used to search my ass of a couple of years back when I learned there could be something floating around on the web. Conclusion was that, yeah, it was partially an IGN joke/a pitch project on Goldeneye. However, as a result I've got two HOMEBREW PROJECT Halo DS roms somewhere on my cart. Maybe I'll share these here to stop any future 'interwebs confusion' :topsy_turvy:
A Microsoft franchise on a Nintendo console? Nope. Not a chance of ever getting to commercial release, at least.
There was a deal with THQ, which rare decided to ressurect some cancelled games using their IP, suck as banjo pilot (which was diddy kong pilot) and mr pants (which was donkey kong coconut crackers), and a DS port of Viva Piñata.
I'm just going to post these links to articles and video here: http://kotaku.com/307822/halo-ds-was-an-unsolicited-pitch http://kotaku.com/306221/proof-provided-of-halo-ds-still-not-a-real-game?tag=gamingrumorsmashed Hope this helps flesh out the story.
I thought it was just a mod, but that's what I read from many places. It'd be awesome to have it out. I think IGN had some gameplay of it.
Interesting concept though, Halo on DS would be cool in a way. Wonder how they'd have utilised the touch screen functions...
