I've probably played more Halo 2 multiplayer than Halo 1 (excluding co-op). The first Halo is great in its own way, although some of the weapons and maps are unbalanced (using the pistol in Hang-Em-High, for instance). Some of the greatest times I've had were 16 player system link games. Specifically, an 8 on 8 CTF game in Blood Gulch. Halo 3 seemed really good for the little while I played it. It takes getting used to the new button layout, but I think it works very well.
Im the only one that says halo2? It was hard but I think halo 2 really defined what online gaming Should be, WHen you went on xbox live during the halo 2 days you didnt see what game somebody was playing, you saw if there halo 2 party was open or not. Tho i loved halo3s storys. BUt halo 1 had a damn good story too.
Hang'em High was unplayable without the pistol... try playing Halo 2's version, tombstone, with SMG start. FRUSTRATING.
Slight bump since I missed the topic... But I would definately have to say.... Halo 1. How could you go wrong with Halo 1? It was so good back in the day... Just going home from school with friends everyday and playing matches on Bloodgulch, Discovering all the tricks and glitches, watching some of the first modding videos... I was just so into it at the time. I spent so many pointless hours fooling with that game... Even buying an action replay just to get saves that allowed you to play as Elites, Grunts, Or Hunters. Too much fun. Plus Halo had Damnation. Quite possibly the best Halo Map to ever exist. =] But I do love Halo 3 aswell! Halo 2 was fun at first, but it really went downhill for me after about a year sadly... Add me if you ever wanna Play some Halo 3! And my K/D Ratio is terrible due to the fact that the first Half of th game I didnt use the BR at all.
