HALO Marketing Gold

    Hi everyone,

    Bought a massive joblot of gaming stuff a while back ( Controllers, systems, games etc ), 3 massive box fulls. Anyway Finally sorted through the last of it an in there was this PC HALO Marketing gold disc.

    It says it is pre release software on the disc. Iv'e installed it ( Key is on the back of the sleeve ) and it seems to run etc fine ( Iv'e never actually played Halo so wouldnt be able to tell if it was drastically different or not.

    Does anyone have info on this disc at all and what it is ( or isnt! ) worth?

    In the game industry, when a game's development is finished it is said to be "gold". This period of time comes after all code is finalized and no more changes can be made, but before full-scale disk manufacturing begins.
    Development -> Gold state -> Disk manufacturing -> Public release

    I suspect this is similar to xbox green disks- disks that are given to reviewers or internal employees. Since it says marketing, this may have been sent to a Microsoft marketing department or to any media outlet they deemed worthy.

    One of the most interesting things is that the center spartan has a flamethrower, a weapon not found in the retail copy.

    I would be very interested in this disk.

    Flamethrower was absolutely in the retail PC version.
