10 years ago like today I was playing Majora's Mask and Soul Calibur. PS2 fans were watching a DVD probably.
I got mine when it was released in the UK and paid a silly amount, but it was worth it. It remains my favourite console as it had something for everyone. Initially I hated the design, but grew to love it. The number of PS2 units I have pulled to pieces and put back together again must be in the hundreds. It all went terribly wrong when the slimline was introduced. I am still a massive fan of the SCPH-3XXXX series. The best of the best! Happy birthday buddy!
I got my PS2 In 02 i think along with GT3 but the first game i ever bought for it seperatly was GTA 3 and from that point to this day nothing has matched how amazing it felt playing GTA 3 for the time (at least for me). I remember getting my logitech Formula Force PC wheel out from the cupboard and realizing that it was basically the same as the GT3 version and that it worked just the same. Can't believe its lasted 10 years, did the PS1 ever last that long? I seem to remember by about 02 or 03 i had stopped playing my original playstation to death and played ps2 and xbox.
My PS2 is the only console I self modded even then it's swapdisc modded but I had to open my system up to get to a switch that otherwise wouldn't be able to be held down.
Bought my PS2 about 8 years ago.. but 10 years ago, I was playing Majoras Mask and awaiting Perfect Dark!
I was the proud owner of one of the 100.000 launch units sold here in Germany, initial batch. Sadly it died beginning of this year, may it rest in peace. It brought me countless hours of fun.
Got mine in 2002. You have no idea how bad it was (well, for me) to see Gran Turismo 3 everywhere and not been able to play it.
It was even worse for me, they promised GT3 as a launch title, but it was delayed, so I had to settle for Dead or Alive 2. Which was not a bad choice in retrospect ;-) But still, I was (and still am) a Gran Turismo fan and was totally hyped for GT3, and greatly disappointed to not see it on the shelves on launch day :crying:
Wow, 10 years! I remember the first PS2 I got and I got it chipped. It has to be one of the longest running systems that has been out with it's successor also out.
