Good to know. Time to take off the dust and play some saturn games! Edit: Xbox360 was released on November 22, 2005. Happy 4th birthday too
I didn't get a Saturn from its Japanese launch date, but it's coming up 15 years and I'm still using my original PAL console - you just don't get that kind of build quality from Sony or Microsoft!
will kick 'em on tonite. have a big pile of games which i even didn't play once yet  Gongrats SS
Damn it has it really been that long 15 years remenber get my sega saturn launch day and the xbox 360 4 year also my first xbox 360 I got from this page from SuperGrafx also I still have PM you send me
Nice! Damn, I feel old, I remember posting on this board on its 10th birthday. Saturn I miss you! When I get back to Holland I'll finish the whole PD trilogy in one sitting ;-)
] Surely you mean Grey box? And on the day of release what fantastic games could you have played?Glitchy Virtua Fighter, a get the ball down the hole game in TAMA, Myst, a dodgy adventure game in Waichai Connection and a Mahjong game that was already on the 3DO in Mahjong Gokuu Tenjiku.. And what games could you play up until the end of year? The rather piss poor sprite scaling Gale racer, a enhanced Mega CD game in Shinsetsu Yumemi Yakata and lastly one of the few saving graces the rendered platform game Clockwork Knight. So 8 games to while away over Christmas... On a side note the Playstation will be 15 in 10 days time. :110: Personally I am not sure how Saturn owners made it through christmas without drinking heavily... as what did the Playstation have? You could have played Ridge Racer which did make the early Saturn attempt at 3D look like a joke, the nice 2D shooter Gokujou Parodius-Da! - Deluxe Pack (which Saturn owners would have to wait another 5 months for...), that mahjong game that was already on the 3DO and the Saturn, another mahjong game in Mahjong Station Mazin, that 2D scrolling fighting game Nekketsu Oyako (saturn owners would be waiting until Summer..), 3D RPG plod along in the style of doom in Crime Crackers (has nice artwork though...), that exciting and well worth buying a next gen console for in TAMA (see above....), not too bad (if you understand Japanese) transport simulation game A IV evolution (was also the first limited edition game on the Playstation...)... That is 8 games and that's on day of release (9 if you count the limited edition game...). So lets continue.... you've played mahjong how about Pachislot in the form of Kikuni Masahiko Jirushi - Warau Fukeisan Pachi-Slot Hunter, 2D puzzle game Twinbee Taisen Pazurudama (not released on Saturn, although wait a year and you could play the same game with Chibi Maruko chan...), the on acid mario kart like Motor Toon Grand Prix, dungeon exploring game Kings Field, the interactive anime game Houma Hunter Lime (lucky Saturn owners get the 2 episodes 9 months later...), baseball game Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu, bored of Mahjong? how about Shogi in Kakinoki Shogi, mortal kombat meets samurai spirits meets some dodgy looking girls in fighter Twin Goddesses and block out rip off Geom Cube. So that's 16 games with 5 games that are very good and a few more that would have been bearable... Ironic to see so many 2D games on the Playstation in the first month of the console with how many on the Saturn in it's first month? I am prepared to put money on the fact that no one had a Saturn today 15 years ago, most people here would have been too young or poor to get to Japan and most import shops wouldn't have gotten them until at least the day after. Would have been a few days after that, that Computer Exchange or CEX (when they had two shops a game shop and a PC shop) had them for sale and people slapping down 1000 quid for a saturn or a playstation and one(!) game with other games costing 100 quid each. A lot of people did change from Saturn to Playstation after seeing Virtua Fighter and Ridge Racer side by side, being able to play Parodius and Nekketsu Oyako too mean a choice of games... I don't think we showed Gale Racer much...
Gale racer was bloody horrible, the pathetic draw distance made it impossible to play unless you really were masocistic or wanted to play a racer on the Saturn over the christmas period, holding back the tears as you remembered how jaw droppingly good Ridge Racer looked... Megadrive racing games of the era were better... it would have been great as Rad Mobile but it didn't even come close...
