So, anyone here have already bought a game just because of the cover art itself? Knowing the game was good or not, but because you liked the art on the cover. The first that comes to my mind now is Magic Knight Rayearth: I love anything with this kind of color style
I'm sure I have, but I can't remember which ones. Once you own and play a game, you tend to forget about your preconceptions of it and focus on what it actually is. In other words, most of my memories of games are about playing the game more than anything else.
Im talking about games you bought JUST because of the Art itself. Even seeing videos and knowing its a shit (like many anime games), not the ones you bought as a kid because the cover looks cool and stuff.
Adults do that too. I've probably done that as an adult as well, without reading anything about it or seeing any videos. Although, I'd probably look at the back too.
Well, I plan on buying a few TMNT games just because of their covers. Like the first one on the NES, Hyperstone Heist on the Genesis and Manhattan Missions for DOS. The Japanese released with the awesome covers are unfortunately out of my price range.
Those dating sims and graphic novels have some beautiful covers Another one I would add to my collection, but its so damn expensive XP
I bought X68k Phalanx for the cover art only. I'm still not sure if I will ever own an X68k in my life and I'm not exactly a fan of Phalanx either. But the art is breathtaking!
BTW. Theres some limited edition games I would buy just because all the cool stuff that comes inside. Dont even care about the game. An example of this combined with a nice artwork that I own its Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekidou DX: http://www.sos-brigade.de/wordpress/1026/suzumiya-haruhi-no-gekidou-haruhi-auf-der-wii Lovely cover and comes with a very well made figure PS: Sorry for deforming the topic. I cant figure out how to resize this images on the forum XP
Also it's SHINY. Not as bad as many people say it is. But this one... This one is an unholy abortion of a shitty game. To quote AVGN, it is a shitload of fuck and I don't like it. It looked SO cool on the cover, though...
I bought this game mainly for the cover art: Well, that and because of the NEC logo on the front, and the fact that it was $3. I had a pretty good idea of how shitty it was before I played it, and it is indeed quite shitty. It's a good looking game, but it plays like shit. A real shame.
@XerdoPwerko I like shinny covers too. That Spectral Force cover looks so generic to me xP In a couple years we wont see any cover art anymore :crying: I still havent figured out how to play it tough... @la-li-lu-le-lo. Wow, NEC?! Didnt how they where still around the GC era. They made or just published the game? How can it be better than a whole game based on the dance sequence of the anime ending theme? XD
I believe they just published it. It was developed by Nd Cube, the same company that made F-Zero: Maximum Velocity for the GBA, which actually is a good game.
I think I paid about $17 brand new for it a couple years ago. I want the Suzumiya Haruhi no Heiretsu Chou limited. But I would like to have all Suzumiya games anyway, I love the artist style.
