I've played Postal 2 and foudn it quite entertaining ^_^ No, I'm not a sicko or anything....its just the game is so over exagerated and just makes fun of everything that people get offended by in it. Hell, the first people to try and kill you are protestors complaining about violence in videogames.

yeah, i remember when mk first came out...
kids in the neighborhood impaling each other on treble hooks and ripping each other's hearts out...
there wasnt enough bactine to go around. :smt019

    p.s. postal sounds like a S. H. kinda game.
should i be worried if this person plays vice city so much and enjoys killing things too much? he lives to kill on that game.
10,000 deaths... i better watch it... :axe:

The BBc had it right, games don't create violence, but violent people are attracted to violent games.

Holy f***cking shit, thhat shit happened way too close to 'home'...

Personally I would not have a problem with Manhunt being banned. It's too bad it isn't - it is FAR too easy for kids to get their hands on this shit when they shouldn't and play it. If a kid can't buy the gane, he'll get someone older to who can. Or else go over to his mate's. or hell, download the damn thing - every single PS2 owner I know has a modchip or slidecard. Slapping on 18+ ratings and restricting its purchase to 18+'s is a joke. It only increases the forbidden fruit factor.

This is a game, as SPONG correctly states, that is first and foremost a murder simulator. This piece of trash of an excuse for software crosses all sorts of lines. Other games have violence, fatalaties, death, whatever as a consequence or an element of the game. Manhunt mkaes murder the sole bloody purpose. It doesn't help that the way this shit is marketed it's targeted heavily towards the teenager demographic, ie, through media such as CVG et al.

The killer had planned to rob the victim to help pay off a drug debt. The fact that he liked Manhunt is incidental at best but gives the tabloids something to scream about. It also gives the victim's parents someone to sue for fifty meeleon pounds.

So don't play it. Nobody is forcing you to, just like nobody forces you to watch violent movies, listen to music with violent lyrics, look at porn, drink alcohol, or indulge in any any other contentious civil liberty. Crossing the boundaries of good taste might not appeal to you, but that's ok because you don't have to experience it.

Which is kind of incidental, because if this game wasn't around, that kid would still have got killed. If not him then his next door neighbour, by the same guy. I don't want to be the one to break this to you, but some people are unhinged murdererous assholes. With or without videogames.

If he honestly couldn't tell the difference between his PS2 and reality, he had unimaginable psychological problems well before the game ever entered his life. I've heard people say "this game was all it took to send him over the edge"... in that case, the guy at the keybab place giving him wrong change might have sent him over the edge. Let's ban Kebabs.

Try reading a little more carefully. Nowhere did I say that the kid killed because of the game, so don't try t turn that bullshit argument on me. The media's constant suggestions that game induce people to kill are utter tripe.

What does matter here is that children get their hands in this sort of crap far too easily - much easier than other items that are labelled as 'adult'. Media - movies, newspapers, games -does influence people, moreso children - and in the case of this game all it does is blatantly dehumanize and desensitize to death and murder. There's no reason for shit like this to exist, just as there is no reaosn for shit like snuff cinema to exist.

Some may think it's OK for this stuff to be on sale as long as it's supposedly restricted to those 18+, but even with that position in mind, the fact remains that games, rated and restricted as they may be, get into kids' hands far too easily. The ridiculous argument that the media constantly pulls out of his ass along with clips of MK and DOOM circa '95 that games make people kill is ridiculous - but the fact remains that this is a digusting, dehumanizing, desensitizing-to-death-and-violence murder simulation that does nothing else nor tries to pretend to, and can get far far too easily into childrens' hands .
