im a cheap-ass gamer...and person.....i dread the thought of spending a good $50 dollars on a game..... so thats why i downloaded and installed GimpShop(plasticbugs.com)......a freebie photoshop and i want to use layers but i cant get them to work........when i open an image than open the other as a layer they still dont work please help me please and thanks
Well, in photoshop, you must hold alt or shift or something like that to drag the other picture over.
From the main window, do File->Dialogs->Layers (to see the layers) You can click the button on the far left/bottom of this window to make a new layer, or you can choose Layer->New Layer from the drop down of the image you want to create a new layer on.
i can create numerous layers...but they dont merge together......they just sit on top of each other......
im not "in" to bittorrents and the such.....yes i have downloaded old games roms before....yes i have downloaded 3 songs....and ive been tempted to in the past...but i'd rather pay the money and know the program works rather then finding out it has a virus and crashes my pc cuz a stupid .dll is missing
I know in photoshop you can merge layers all into one. Chek the layers menu. I don't know how GIMP is layed out..
the maker of gimp compared the two and they look fairly the same.........it has all the same features of photoshop.....so i dunno...prolly me that caused the problem......also its beta too...and it takes along time to load.......nearly 30 seconds,...so i dunno
is there any freeware programs that will let me merge several images into one.....google found nothin...
You're not googling enough. Google for Gimp tutorials... and look there. I know for a fact that when you save the file in a format that doesn't support layers (JPG, BMP, GIF, etc) it will flatten the image for you then.
It's called "Paying developers for a quality product instead of being a goddamned lazy pirate and ripping off others' hard work."
And you dont! If they dint want people to pirate goods they would release more student and home computer versions of software for cheaper! What students going to pay $500 for software!
That's exactly why I use GIMP. I'm not going to pirate software, but I'm not going to pay for Photoshop, either. It's free and legal to download GIMP .
i've never used this gimp shop hack, just the gimp, and i find it to be quite handy. to merge layers in the gimp, what i've always done is right click on one of the layers i want to merge in the layer tab, and select merge down, which will merge the layer with the next visible layer below it in the list (if you don't want to merge with the layer directly below the current one, just change the layer order by dragging and dropping them, or hide the ones you want to skip over by clicking on the little eyeball to toggle visibility)
Not really but its not like students and home users make up a huge part of their user base. Its only the commercial use base thats their main market.
It doesn't make it any less wrong to pirate. I know it's easy to say when you're a student. I downloaded quite a bit of software back in the day. I've actually purchased Flash & Photoshop licenses since then though.
i fully agree........but i cant justify a 100-200 dollars spent on some fancy paint program.....ill have to try that merge down thingy....
