Hi all, So I'm part way through the development of a game which will be released on the Mac, iPad and iPhone over the next month or so. I'm finishing up the level design and graphics as I type but I'm stuck for a name. It's a 2D run and gun/platformer/puzzler with 16-bit style graphics. (think Metal Slug with tricky platform segments and an Angry Birds style scoring system). The loose story is that of a boy who after playing so many video games, falls asleep and finds himself in a nightmare where he's pursued by zombies (subject to change, zombies are over-used I know.) and trapped in a videogame world. Each set of levels are based loosely on a game (Halo, Sonic, Mario etc). Problem is I'm stuck for a name. Something comical and lighthearted which conveys the story and nod to different games would be great. Any ideas?
Ooooh now I like the sound of that. I'm thinking of maybe changing the story, characters etc. I'd really like to do some unique and nice sprite art so off to buy some graph paper and some decent pencils tomorrow, see what I can come up with. Sticking with the video game basis, but the whole kid in a dream thing + zombies is lame.
I use box2d and cocos 2d with the help of this program http://www.mapeditor.org It's fairly straight forward to make tilesheets for levels, characters on the other hand are a bitch. I'm awful at making sprites beyond static objects but I'm not bad with a pencil.
How about Corned Beef? If you make the cover art just as random, it could be the next "phalanx" game.
Not just yet. I was working like mad to try and get it out before iTunes Connect goes down for the holiday and today I've sat back and looked at it and though to myself "I can do better" I'll show off some stuff as soon as I feel happy with it.
Super Pixel Boy - And the Zombies of Video Game World / Land and for the record Zombies are not overused, in fact there's not enough zombies.
