I need a little help. So I replaced the battery in my Japanese Saturn maybe a year ago. It's been working great since then, but I know that it's going to die at some point, so there are a couple things that I want to do. First, I want to change the clock (so it will be on the correct time when Christmas rolls around), and I want to back up my save data to a Saturn backup cart. I think I know how to do these things on a US Saturn. To access both the Clock settings and the Memory Manager, you select the top middle button in the main Saturn menu, which on the US Saturn says "System Settings". However, when I select that button the the Japanese Saturn, I get the screen below. I don't do anything when I see that screen because I don't know what it says - instead I select the bottom left option, which I think says "Exit" or something to that effect. I know it has something to do with data, though (it says "deta" at the top), so I'm afraid it's asking me if I want to erase all data or something. Anyway, long story short... can someone please translate the screen below? Then, depending on what happens next, I may need additional assistance in doing what I mentioned earlier in my post.
I thought the Japanese BIOS has English as a language. I know my V-Saturn has this... But since if you take the battery out you'll loose it lol. Just when you pass this and someone translates, switch it to english. Someone will be able to help you with this no worries.
Select the middle icon on the top row (memory manager), then select the right icon at the bottom of the new menu (system settings). Now choose the second icon down (language settings).
Okay, so I set the language to English, but I still can't figure how to copy saves to a backup cart. The only options I have for memory are "Remove Item" and "Clear". The backup cart is inserted. It's a US backup cart, by the way. They aren't region locked, are they? That'd be stupid.
Go to "manage memory" (top middle circle) and you should see options to copy from/to system/memory card.
Sounds like a dirty connector, perhaps! If you have no reason to remove it, just leave it in the Saturn. That's why the 4-in-1 carts are good.
I had a Saturn memory card that was a little fickle. How I fixed it was giving the contacts a scrub with magic eraser, followed by the usual isopropyl alcohol and cotton bud clean. Works every time now.
Would the Saturn floppy drive solve that? HSS-0128? Edit: ...and thanks for the heads up on how to change the language. Was going to install a mod chip in my Japanese Saturn tomorrow afternoon! :encouragement:
