Hi there :) (I'm French and I apologize for the mistakes I can do while writing) . I need your help ! the BD drive of my DECR1000A does not work (I don't know if it's a lens, cart or daughter card problem). In doubt, I bought one (model KEM-400AAA), these readers have a daughter card.
(First question: Do I have to connect the original daughter card of the DECR1000A to the new player and don't do any other manipulation on the DECR ? Or do I just have to exchange the BD drives + their daughtercard and make the necessary manipulations on the Service menu?)

If I have to do an association manipulation of the BD drive, I began to inquire about the procedure. I don't have a dongle, so I want to downgrade the DECR to an OFW lower than 3.55 (very easy) and use FactoryServiceMode Tool v0.2.
    > Is this the right solution?
If yes, on which USB port of the DECR the key containing the file LV2Diag.self should be connected? (There are 6 USB ports on the DECR)

    Thank you!

Check if it's properly connected. Sometimes, wires may disconnect themselves from the motherboard when shipping the device to another country (it happened to a friend of mine and i believe that is your problem as well)

Edit: And for the love of everything that is sacred DO NOT USE FACTORY SERVICE MODE! or else you'll be STUCK IN IT, regardless of the firmware!

It's just a laser. Will just trying it just brick the unit or ?

First of check the Debug settings. I am talking about working drive setup: BDEMU HDD/ BDEMU USB/ BD DRIVE. Don't use remarry.

And the Blu—Ray drive is not so important to risk to brick DECR. After all you have to change laser but first check Debug settings, cause I think the problem is there.

I have already checked, and everything is ok inside the device !

Already done, but when I choose BD DRIVE and I restart the DECR1000A, my choice doesn't remain and always returns to "BDEMU HDD". Even when booting from 192.168.0.2 and selecting BD DRIVE (disc), the BDDRIVE LED on the front of the DECR1000A lights up, but the drive does not work and in the Debugg Settings, BDEMU HDD remains selected.

Even if I remove the hard drive HDD (Dev) from its bay, the player does not work.

So, I'm not sure that the problem comes from the lens but rather from the daughter card (that's why I ask how to make a "remarry" on the DECR).

Other info: when I start the DECR1000A, the BD drive makes a funny sound (I disassembled it, you have to force to put a disk but it takes it, the disk does not turn and the lens does not light-on but we see the lens block moving!) And in the output console of target manager, it says "bd drive failed".

What about it's work? Does it insert/eject disc properly? Does it spin them inside?
    P.S.
And you should listen Zecoxao about Factory mode. He know what he's talking about, if there is someone who know how it's work - it's him, definetly.

Maybe you have to disassembly BD Drive and "reset" it's mechanic? It's standart drive from A, B and maybe C, E retail revisions. If I remeber right that's the one:

Of course, use some silicon grease for gears.

I will try but I don't think is the problem, because I can eject a disc properly, I think that the small disc detector is broken because I must force on the disk to insert it but the mecanism seems work ! The BD DRIVE is not recognized by the DECR1000A, so I'm afraid that the daughter card is dead ... And if I don't have to access the factory mode, how do I associate a new daughter card (Or a whole new drive) ?

Whatever you will do don't use Factory mode as zecoxao said.
-Buy another working BD-400 drive and swap PCB from original drive to the donor.
-Check ribbon cables, they might be damaged, use multimeter to check every "road", trace...(Don't know the right word)
    -Reset the mechanism
-If it won't help try to seek more info, try to spend more time on it in the future. Don't do it with haste. I do understand that it's good to have working BD Drive on it but if you'll have no success with it at all, when it's better to buy retail one for games.
-Maybe you have to ask Joonie, Zecoxao or someone else how to remarry on DECR. After all, it's easy to use BD HDD or USB.

I have not yet dismantled the BD drive but I made a discovery. Indeed, I read on the Internet that if the daughterboard is non-functional, PSN games or homebrews do not launch (on a retail PS3 of course)
    I did a test on my DECR1000A :
    - I have launched a PSN game with the BDEMU enabled (BDDRIVE disabled) = the game starts.
    - I launched a PSN game with the BDDRIVE activated (BDEMU disabled) = nothing happens, black screen, impossible to reset the DECR1000A without turning it off. Same thing with a BD disc in the drive or not.

I'll reset the mechanism but I doubt it changes anything ...

Bad news, but check ribbon cables, use some alcohol to clean the drive PCB (first disconect it from the drive and cables of course). I'll also ask about PCB on the other forum.

And what about PCB revision? Is it BMD-001 or BMD-002? According to ps3devwiki there is BMD-001 inside. The man I asked about it said that all firmware is stored in BGA Spansion S99-50111-001. You have to swap that BGA chip from original to the donor PCB that makes the donor drive to be original. Hope you have heat gun and can work with it. At least I can't and don't have it(.

    BMD-001
EDIT : but I think there is a first problem with the ribbon cable, because when the unit is off, and when I move the ribbon cable, the unit turn on with a beep (like power on the unit or a retail PS3 by pressing "EJECT" button). I check it before !

Might be the reason. Anyway you always can buy any ribbon cable from Aliexpress.
